Crime of the Year in Laconia
« on: August 05, 2011, 01:17:29 PM »
I had to take the bus to the next town over to fill some prescriptions this morning, when I got back I found most of downtown blocked off.
Firetrucks, cop cars, police tape, people wandering around , or standing around looking.
I immediately headed for the local coffee shop just outside the police lines.
My sources came through and told me the DEA had busted a Meth lab, one guy ran off so they were looking for him , but they had closed off the area and evacuated several buildings due to fears of an explosion.
This may not be the first Meth lab busted in Laconia. Definitely not the first in this county,  (one last month in Franklin did blow up ) but it is the first in the downtown area and due to traffic patterns has things totally FUBARed .
I'm in a good location, close enough to hear the boom, but to far away for debris.  ;D

One nice thing about living out here in the boonies........the meth-heads do their cooking in the midst of our ample supply of rural countryside.  At least then when the labs blow up the bastards only take out their own dumb asses.
I love waking up every morning knowing that Donald Trump is President!!

Normally that's what they do here as well, I can see the sticks from here.
But with the crappy economy more people are trying to get in on the action, because apparently it isn't that complex and it sells in the Coke/heroin price range.
Everything was all cleaned up and back to normal by 3PM.  (No boom  ;D   )

Nice thing about the small town is if people talk with one another enough they know exactly where to look for the source of any trouble if it ever happens.  One deliquant may have gotten away, but I'd bet the cops know exactly who it is.  Just a short matter of time.

OK, here's the deal. Talk about stupid cops ? here's a classic.
Cop answers a call about a guy hanging out on Main street for an hour or so, walks past a Ford Escort and sees a bunch of crap laid on the back seat and reports it as "A mobile meth lab" goes to question the guy who runs off and resists when caught, he was already a felon and awaiting trial on other Meth possession charges, allegedly he also had "a weapon", (no word yet on what kind )
After shutting down the center of town, DEA confirmed that it was indeed all the chemicals needed to cook meth, the only things missing were a stove, (kind of important item for COOKING ) pots, pans, and stirring implements.

Last year I went hunting with my brother in law near his parents house in an "upscale neighborhood" near here.  We got a few hundred yards out into the woods and found more than half a dozen little microwaves laying all over the place blown to bits, with weird stains all over them.  It's the same model that was in his parents new house when they moved in...  WTF?!?  My brother in law proceeded to tell me that kids use them to cook meth until they blow them up.  And were probably just going into the new houses before the owners moved in and stealing these.  He doesn't live near there, but I still don't care to find out how he pieced that together so easily.   :-\

Didn't see any three headed squirrels or anything.  But then, we didn't see any game at all either.

So when the Secret Service comes nosing around, they'll know just who they're looking for. ;D
