Cool  8)
""It may be laid down as a primary position, and the basis of our system, that every Citizen who enjoys the protection of a free Government, owes not only a proportion of his property, but even his personal services to the defence of it, and consequently that the Citizens of America (with a few legal and official exceptions) from 18 to 50 Years of Age should be borne on the Militia Rolls, provided with uniform Arms, and so far accustomed to the use of them, that the Total strength of the Country might be called forth at a Short Notice on any very interesting Emergency." - George Washington. Letter to Alexander Hamilton, Friday, May 02, 1783

It amazes me that such simple solutions aren't spotted immediately by those oh so smart college grads who are supposed to be making sure our troops have what they need to do the job. We currently are fielding very expensive "backpack" drones for squad level recon. All it is is a R/C airplane with a video camera The Technology has been around for ages.
The Israeli's started with Pioneer in the 70's, it took us 20 years and 10's of millions of $ to develope copycat technology that is basically just a really large scale R/C plane.
They tried every trick they could think of, had all those overpaid egg heads working on the problem of IED's, this guy bought the solution at off the shelf in a hobby shop.

Yes the simple things work the best. They found out after spending boat loads of money that yes K9s work the best. Can not beat mans best friend.

But there isn't as much money to be made in simple solutions...

"Why are you carrying a pistol?  Expecting trouble?"

"No Maam.  If I was expecting trouble, I'd have a rifle."

Typical of eggheads.  They overlook the obvious in their search for the obscure.

Ah yes - Yankee ingenuity strikes again!
I agree, at times the simplest things work the best like the toy truck and silly string, but that isn't how the feds work. If it doesn't have a price tag that is over inflated then the so called brains at the top don't want it for our underpaid, overworked servicemen and women serving in harms way. If the feds thought of it the truck would cost $5K apeice and the silly string would be $1K per can - sad but true.

Stay safe and watch your back! - Frosty
“As democracy is perfected, the office of the President represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people.  On some great and glorious day, the plain folks of the land will reach their heart’s desire at last, and the White House will be occupied by a downright fool and a complete narcissistic moron.”  H.L. Mencken, The Baltimore Evening Sun,  July 26, 1920.
