The Glades tackles gun control
« on: August 08, 2011, 09:13:36 PM »
Well they took pot shots.

Just watched Sunday's episode.  In the end the gun store dealer was a little sleazy but didn't do it.
In a back-handed way the show demonstrated the frugality of only letting the police have guns.   Actually is was a convoluted story trying to touch on too many topics at once.  Gun stores doing straw sales, private sales, bullying, starting high school...

BUT, the funny part was when they found the illegal gun stash, the regional LEO chief picks up a Browning Citori and talks about it disgustingly.  She treats it likes it's a Mac 10 or Uzi and says that in some motorcycle gangs each new member is given one when they join.

All I can say, is I want to join that gang.

I've seen a couple episodes before.  Didn't look like to bad a show.  I'll try to find this one.  Anything about guns is kinda cool!  ;)

They probably have to limit out on doves with one box of shells to pass the gang initiation. I think I've seen those guys, they hang out at the Breakers for Sunday brunch. Kind of a scary sight with the shot gun scabbards on chromed out Fat Boys, all lined up next to the Beach Club bar. The whole place is silent listening in awe, as the "well seasoned" gang members whisper stock tips to each other and swill mimosas.  ;D

Last summer I stumbled on to a copy of the pilot script and read it.  I had no idea who the actors were going to be at that time, but am please with Passmore.  He carries the role in an arrogant, but lovable manner.  Sometimes just the way I want to be.   The show has morphed since the pilot.  Initially he was going to be a small time Everglades cop, but by the second show he was working for the FDLE and the show appear to be more Palm Beach (think Loxahatchee) based.  By the third or fourth it was evident they were basing the show in the Tampa-st-pete area.  The last show there were maps in his office of Tampa Bay, though they are non-specific about the actual location.   One episode was in Gibsonton, south of Tamp, which is to the carnival folks what Sarasota is to circus.   I've worked in G-town before, so it was neat.

I just watched that episode this afternoon, and was PRAYING that the gun store owner would tell Passmore's character to go fornicate himself.  What a crock...............and up until today I LOVED that show!!
I love waking up every morning knowing that Donald Trump is President!!

Found the right episode (s2, e9).  What a douche!  He instantly decides the guy is "stupid" and guilty based on the fact that he "sells semi-automatic weapons from a booth at a flea market"?  DOUCHE!  >:(  Just imagine all the HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, evil people he'd find at a gun show!

And nice entrapment setup on the guy.  Sad thing is they make the cop look like a hero for being a crooked POS!  >:( >:( >:(

Last episode I'll see of that.

And then he commits trespassing, breaking and entering, and vandalism, while looking for evidence, and that's all good because he's a cop!  At least I'll say they got right the real world police attitude of "No one but him should have a gun at all.  And it's perfectly fine to break laws if your a cop!   >:(

F that show.  Realistic, but NOT in a good way!  >:(
