This has kinda been brought up like it was a bad thing lately and I might be wading into waters that I have no business being in, and Ill be the first to admit with some of the stuff I dont. But on small bit of it I want to add my thoughts. This is not AR-15.com or 1911.org. This not a place where you google search a specific firearm and want to find schematics on disassembly and how it functions. To me DR is a home. A family. Yes its small but that is what attracts me to it. I know I can come on here and people actually know who I am. If I'm having a problem with anything (gun, politics, or personal) I know I can post a thread or send a PM to a like minded person and get good advice on some level.

I like the fact that I can talk about guns, any gun, or product and at least one person has intimate knowledge about it and I dont have people calling me a noob and to search the database that can take me all day to find an answer. I like not posting for three months and someone ask me, hey how is your mom or how is that .357 Lever gun you got. If I need large spectrum thoughts and 500 posts on a topic there are sites I can go to like I mentioned above. But if I want to talk to my friends and see what they think I come here.

There are people on this site, like M25 (Ben), M'ette, Rastus, and Haz that actually will call me if I haven't been on for a while to make sure Im ok. And yeah I work alot and I never seem to call anyone back, even my mother, but I know they called and do try to send a text out to let them know everything is ok, but that is what this site is about to me. A collection of like minded people who, yeah do disagree at times, but in the end are here for each other. So yeah we are not those sites I mentioned before, but is that a bad thing?
(I also like that Tom, Peg,TW and all them are here cause when I get on here its things as I know it.)

And like I said these are my thoughts and feelings. And this is not an attempt to get in the middle of anything that people are involved in. Thats your stuff. This is just my thoughts on a few comments I've seen.

Pretty much summed up my thoughts. I did get an automated  birthday howdy from AR 15 forum, but its where I go for specific questions. You don't really know anyone on that board.  I'd like more members sure, but I like the small town "neighborhood" (or just plain hood ;)) vibe here.

Part of the reason we don't have 100,000 posers posting here is that we target the trolls and weed them out pretty fast. If you come here for intelligent conversation and debate, you will last. If you come here to start $h!t, we circle the wagons and take care of it. We do have our fun, but we self police for the most part, and those of us that are regular posters are well known to everyone. This is not something that you see a lot on other forums. That, and the total lack of mall ninjas.  ;D

Hey! I represent that!  ;)
""It may be laid down as a primary position, and the basis of our system, that every Citizen who enjoys the protection of a free Government, owes not only a proportion of his property, but even his personal services to the defence of it, and consequently that the Citizens of America (with a few legal and official exceptions) from 18 to 50 Years of Age should be borne on the Militia Rolls, provided with uniform Arms, and so far accustomed to the use of them, that the Total strength of the Country might be called forth at a Short Notice on any very interesting Emergency." - George Washington. It is one thing to have 100k members, 100k active members or 100k worthwhile members.  As has been said, we have a small group of like minded interested people that know how to share, debate, and give and take.  We horse around, we share, we care and we police when we need to.  I know it doesn't put lots of cash in the pockets of those providing us with this opportunity, but I appreciate being allowed to  have a family rather than a monster mob.
If I appear taller than other men it is because I am standing on the shoulders of others.

My thoughts are,we dont get the numbers because its not a brand specific forum or as Ksail mentioned its not a platform specific forum.i dont post often but you can bet your bottom dollar i'm here several times a day and have some great members here,i even learn something from time to time lol.
