More wishful thinking for comparisons sake??

Quote
In response, Nero fled Rome with the intention of going to the port of Ostia and from there to take a fleet to one of the still-loyal eastern provinces. However, he abandoned the idea when some army officers openly refused to obey his commands, responding with a line from Vergil's Aeneid: "Is it so dreadful a thing then to die?" Nero then toyed with the idea of fleeing to Parthia, throwing himself upon the mercy of Galba, or to appeal to the people and beg them to pardon him for his past offenses "and if he could not soften their hearts, to entreat them at least to allow him the prefecture of Egypt". Suetonius reports that the text of this speech was later found in Nero's writing desk, but that he dared not give it from fear of being torn to pieces before he could reach the Forum.

Nero returned to Rome and spent the evening in the palace. After sleeping, he awoke at about midnight to find the palace guard had left. Dispatching messages to his friends' palace chambers for them to come, he received no answers. Upon going to their chambers personally, he found them all abandoned. When he called for a gladiator or anyone else adept with a sword to kill him, no one appeared. He cried, "Have I neither friend nor foe?" and ran out as if to throw himself into the Tiber.

Returning, Nero sought for some place where he could hide and collect his thoughts. An imperial freedman offered his villa, located 4 miles outside the city. Traveling in disguise, Nero and four loyal servants reached the villa, where Nero ordered them to dig a grave for him. As it was being prepared, he said repeatedly, "What an artist dies in me!" At this time, a courier arrived with a report that the Senate had declared Nero a public enemy and that it was their intention to execute him by beating him to death.

At this news, Nero prepared himself for suicide. Losing his nerve, he first begged for one of his companions to set an example by first killing himself. At last, the sound of approaching horsemen drove Nero to face the end. After quoting a line from Homer's Iliad ("Hark, now strikes on my ear the trampling of swift-footed coursers!") Nero drove a dagger into his throat.
"I expect perdition, I always have. I keep this building at my back, and several guns handy, in case perdition arrives in a form that's susceptible to bullets. I expect it will come in the disease form, though. I'm susceptible to diseases, and you can't shoot a damned disease." ~ Judge Roy Bean, Streets of Laredo

For the Patriots of this country, the Constitution is second only to the Bible for most. For those who love this country, but do not share my personal beliefs, it is their Bible. To them nothing comes before the Constitution of these United States of America. For this we are all labeled potential terrorists. ~ Dean Garrison

The thing that irks me is that all the evidence needed to predict this was readily available to any one who wanted to apply a little due diligence well before the election.

Exactly.  And those who heard from people with discernment refused to be objective and scrutinize their shallow evaluations of BHO.  Sort of like thinkers vs. cheer leaders.  Best they either listen AND THINK for the next election or not vote.  The good suffer with the bad in a society in a blunder like that...it's the least they can do to vote with us next time.

As much as we curse Obummer and the Socialists the burden is squarely on us.
There is no way in hell the Obummer supporters can get him reelected, not even with ACORN and Mexico helping.
The only ones who can get him reelected are us, the opposition, by nominating another chump like McCain.

My deepest fear is that you are right.

This isn't meant to be a hijack of the thread, but it fits here, and it fits almost every thread when we talk about Pres. BHO, or any elected official and their replacement(s):

Regardless of the party affiliation we claim as an individual or group we need to quit looking at electability.  Electability is nothing more than a beauty contest appearance and speaking quality, and it is the ability and willingness to compromise on anything.  We need to find and elect leaders that are leaders of conviction, and willing to stand firm for what they believe according to the Constitution and how we can best operate as a nation to provide for ourselves and others at the grassroots level.

We will loose a few this way, but in the long run we will be better off.  What did we get by compromising on our values in 2008?  We lost anyway and got stuck with Pres. BHO.  In 2010 many stood their ground and elected leaders that stated they had the fortitude to stand strong.  Did they take their most recent stand because they felt it was right or because they heard their electorate's voice reminding them why they are there?  I do not know and I do not care as long as they took the stand.

What did compromise do for us recently:  It got us continued spending, it got us no real spending cuts, it found a way to increase revenues (code word for taxes and/or fees somewhere), and it did not protect us from a market force with an ulcer.

Rant off mid thought before I really hijack this thread  >:(

He is from Chicago, different set of rules. If they want him re-elected, he will be, the public be damned.

At least I know my vote will be counted.  Even if I have to count on the Black Panthers to make sure it is done.

Probably 2 or 3 times, once someone changes it for you. You know, since you're not smart enough to vote for the right candidate.
