I live in Missoula MT, and when we go shooting we drive about 20 minutes up in the mountains. On a nice day there is upwards of about 50 people out there shooting. On a crappy day there is usually one or two groups. Yesterday was not that nice!!! So there was absolutely no shortage of places to shoot. Now most people out there are considerate and smart. We clean up our mess, we stop shooting when cars go by, and we are ever mindful of what is in the backround. Well we found some that werent any of those. While standing in our usuall spot loading up, a group of three cars pulled up to a spot just off the road about a half mile before us. The road between us and them twists and turns to where we are on opposite sides of a 200 yard gap in between mountains. Instead of firing back into the hill (which most people do) they start lighting off ARs as fast as they can into the rock face of the mountain we are standing on. They can see us clearly and we can see them by the way. All of the sudden trees no less then 20 feet from us start getting ripped apart from the ricochets. I can see them hitting trees and hear them zip by as I grabbed my cousin and ducked behind the car. We waited till they stopped firing jumped in the rig and headed over to have a little talk. It was futile. They were piss drunk, they couldnt understand why it wasnt a good idea to fire into the rock face of a mountain no more than 50 yards from the road. Needless to say we got far far away from them.
Im not sure where I am going with this, guess I just needed to vent. Some people just need to have their thinking privilages revoked! It is people like this that will have the entire mountain shut down too all shooters!!!
