John McCain's Position on Gun Issues
By Michael Bane

Let's see how our best option, John McCain. comes down on guns. This is from John McCain's official positions paper, which I obtained from Steve Schreiner at the Firearms Coalition of Colorado:

There is a link back to this thread on the article page.

We can only hope McCain doesn't do a 180.  Remember..."No new taxes" from Daddy Bush,   That didn't last too long.
Firearms stand next in importance to the Constitution itself. They are the American people's liberty teeth and keystone under independence. The very atmosphere of firearms everywhere restrains evil interference. - George Washington

Call me naive but, assuming the decision comes down in our favor I don't see any major challenges happening for a while.

First they need to change the makeup of the court.  THERE lies our battle(s) as probably the next POTUS will have three to nominate.

I foresee MANY challenges, PRO gun challenges, to as many of the 20,000 gun laws as possible ;D  We may not be able to get rid of the NFA as that is a tax issue which is allowed by Article 1 sec 8 . Thats the same one that kept DC from voting so long. It also specifies the powers of the federal govt. I'll have to reread that one closely ;D

Their position is that they are all in favor of "reasonable" restrictions on our rights. The only difference is in the definition of reasonable, and given McCain's history - his actions - his idea of "reasonable" is not that far off from Hillery's or Obama's - they will grab any and all they can to get us disarmed. That is the goal, that will be the result to one degree or another.
