Thankfully going to an NFL game is an optional thing

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/shutdown_corner/post/NFL-wants-teams-to-give-full-pat-downs-to-fans-a?urn=nfl-wp7243

Quote
In an attempt to improve safety at games, the NFL wants teams to give full pat-downs to all fans entering stadiums during the 2011 season.

USA Today reports that the league issued a memo to teams before the season requesting that pat-downs from the ankles up be administered to the 17 million fans who are expected to attend games this season. Previously, pat-downs from the waist up were suggested.

Sorry folks, but I'm not going to give you $75 for a ticket, $15 for a cold hot dog and warm beer, and then let you grope me for free.  In high school I learned that it is the one getting the thrill that pays.

Seriously, they call those of us that train, prepare and carry are called the nervous, paranoid and scared ???  But, they feel the need to frisk everyone entering their venue.

I read this shortly before you posted it.

FTA, "If these measures would do anything to improve fan safety, patience and understanding could be expected. All it will do is create the illusion that things are safer. This isn't an airport. There are no metal detectors or body scanners to serve as deterrents. Security is a guy in a yellow jacket doing a perfunctory, three-second pat-down. If you want to sneak something in, it's not hard to do it."

At least the author seems to have a bit of sense.

As far as the NFL goes, they're asking too much out of fans who just want to come watch a game, and they are trusting the authority of a bunch of folks who (I'm guessing) have very little training.

Safety my butt! I think they are looking for any food or beverages that may be smuggled into the stadium. One guy with a Taser causes all of us to be searched? They are just looking to boost the concessions bottom line.

I went to a Cardinals preseason game. Security had me stand with my ares straight out and touched both armpits, then ran his hand over my belly to beltline. He then patted the small of my back at the beltline.  "OK."

It occured to me that my G27 in my Kramer OWB holster on my hip would have been completely missed.

The gal with the tickets hadn't showed up yet and I had to go outside the "secure" area to pee.
On reentry, same routine and they would STILL have missed a handgun on my hip.
You can say lots of bad things about pedophiles; but at least they drive slowly past schools.

I haven't watched a complete game in the NFL since Jackson's infected boobie slip!

I suppose I might watch the Lions on Turkey Day since they won their season opener for the first time in about twenty years but that's about it!  Not interested in getting screwed for 100 bucks.  If I wanted that I just give the wife a C-Note and call it a day!

No thanks.

Then again, I would have said no thanks anyways.  Way too much money, way to much bs.   If I wanted to watch foot ball I can  do it from home.  The best part, if the game sucks, I can always change it to another game.  I've not watched a NFL game in a very long time. don't plan to start now.
I always break all the clay pigeons,  some times its even with lead.

The only thing that used to be worth watching were "Kickoffs and Punt Returns"!  Now that the NFL has gutted that with their STUPID rule change that has change some.  There are still those that have and will gamble but......

PS:  I live in Browns country and Josh Cribs is worth a watch anytime he touches the ball!

PPS:  Even the cheerleaders are looking like "Teenie Boppers" to me as I mature.  LOL

This is what is going to happen, since we don't have to go the game and they have to televise the event when the stands are near empty the collective wisdome will be that the games are safe without the patdowns.

It only works if you have a monopoly, just ask the TSA.

In my opinion going to the games is stupid.
It's not the crowds, high ticket prices, expensive parking, and paying through the nose for refreshments.
There is not a seat in the stadium that gives you as good a view as you will get on your TV with replays.
What kind of meat head is going to go through all that crap to watch the "jumbo tron" when you can sit in your warm living room and see the same thing ?
