Why I am starting to really dislike LEO....

First things first:
I know it is always the few that makes the many look bad in any group. And I know several LEO personally that I consider to be "true cops." So this is not a carte blanch slam against any LEO anywhere.

One of the headlights went out on the way home and I was pulled over for it; no complaint there. What I took exception to was the little political comments against CCW when I presented my permit to the LEO. He asked me why I carried and if it was for self protection. I answered affirmatively. He gave a sneering remark about what the world is coming to with everyone carrying. I said nothing and kept my hands on the steering wheel where he could see them. He wasn't really worked up about the whole thing but his sarcastic attitude really didn't go down well with me.

This guy was an asshole.....

The videos/articles of cops becoming unglued, even if they are wrong or dumb, have been posted on here many times with regard to civilians lawfully carrying concealed.

They are truly the minority of LEO's. But it sounds like you did the absolute right thing. Be cool, be calm, be quiet, and let him do his thing,...and make it home to your family. Fight a ticket in court another day. Not on the street. You will lose.

Part of my former posts regarding the 6th branch of service; the militarization of our LEO's. Talk to the LEO's you know personally about this, and remind them lawful CCW folks ARE NOT THE PROBLEM.

I think some of them say stuff they know will inflame the detained person just to get a reaction and maybe justify further contact with said detainee.  I remember seriously thinking about punching a cop one time because of his mouth.  Fortunately I wasn't that drunk.  But, to this day, it still pissed me off to think about it.

Cops are OK.
LEO's suck.

Ones there to "serve and protect".
The other is there to throw around the weight of his badge.

I take it he was unarmed?  [/sarcasm]

If LEOs don't like guns and "what the world is coming to", then they should set an example and give theirs up first.
Either that or they can stick their eliteist attitude up their ass.
You can say lots of bad things about pedophiles; but at least they drive slowly past schools.

That is exactly what many of them are trying to do. The best example you have is that total a$$hole of a cop that went off on a CCW holder in Canton, Ohio who had more patience than God. That cop did everything humanly possible to degrade and threaten him, and provoke a response. The citizen did not give him one.



A lot of cops think it's an infringement on their job. To even think you could protect yourself better, quicker, and safer than he could, is taken personally by many cops because of their attitude they acquire on the job. They feel because of the power the gun and badge brings, a sense of false superiority. Sometimes I think it takes a greater control of an individuals temperament to DEAL with a cop, than it does to actually BE one.   Bill T.

That dash cam video, and others I'm sure we've all seen, display the very worst that the LE profession has to offer.  I believe, however, that officers like the one depicted in this video are the exception - not the rule.

This also illustrates how important it is for concealed license holders to conduct themselves in a manner that is above reproach.  When we have such a license and carry our weapons, our actions... and reactions... reflect not only on ourselves but also on every other licensee in America.  Statistically, license holders are by far the most law abiding citizens in the nation.

An officer's job is to observe people - how they look, dress, drive, who they're with, where they are, when they're there, what they're doing, how they're doing it, and how all of this "fits" in the situation when considered as a whole.  It's a dangerous and difficult job.  The dedication, service, and sacrifice of good officers and their families are things that I appreciate.

Statistically, license holders are by far the most law abiding citizens in the nation.

That is a fact many officers simply refuse to recognise. They attempt to treat CCW holders as common criminals, rather than the valuable asset they are to both them, and the rest of society. In short many of them need to wake the hell up. It doesn't take a college degree to understand this. It is nothing more than common sense.  Bill T.

As a group, it seems CCW holders are more law abiding than LEO's.
