Okay, Since Badgermilk's Rem NPSS purchase, I've been curious about these inexpensive gas ram air rifles. 30 years a go about the only gas ram was a Beeman R2 made by Theoben. Being somewhat of an airgun snob, I didn't believe that a $150-$300 Chinese made Crossman/Benjamin/Remington could possibly hit the side of a barn reliably, even if inside.
Duh. I was so wrong. I bought the cheaper Benjamin Nitro for $150. While my Weihrach HW77 at 3 times the price does shoot a little better, I am greatly impressed with what this "toy" will do. I've since upgraded the scope to a BSA Air scope 4x32AO. The groups tightened somewhat with that scope.
The initial target was in fact 3 different pellets using the gun. Shooting H&N Match pellets it produces one hole groups all day. (So does my HW77, only a little smaller with a tad more velocity.) This gun fits me well and seems to be very solidly made.
I've drawn first blood this weekend taking out one of the nefarious brown rats (with cute strip
es) that infests my back yard. One shot at 17yds. Now my quandary is what to do. Sell the HW77 and the Beeman R7? Keep all of them? I could use the money, but I'm afraid there's not a big market for the other guns.
