Have you seen the price of copper lately? Hold my beer and meth pipe, and give me those stolen cable cutters.....Let's climb the utility pole and get some wire.....

Uh,....they were live wires.....

ALTON, Ill. (WLS) - Authorities near Alton in southwestern Illinois are investigating the electrocution of a man whose body was found near snipped electrical power lines investigators believe he was trying to steal.

Madison County Coroner Stephen Nonn says 34-year-old Mark Becker of Granite City was found dead early Friday. Investigators believe he died Thursday night.

Nonn says evidence at the scene suggests that Becker made contact with charged overhead power lines after they had been cut from the utility pole.

The coroner says an investigation by Madison County sheriff's deputies and interviews with witnesses "failed to reveal any legitimate or lawful activity in which (Becker) would be engaged involving the utility infrastructure."

Gee, ya' think?

Nonn says an autopsy Friday confirmed that Becker was electrocuted.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

As a Security Officer at a major Electrical Utility Company, I wish these morons would do that more often....would make my job a lot easier. We have at least 5 sites that have been hit for copper recently. We have had to deal with copper thefts more and more since the economy tanked.

don't forget the price of copper spiked.

No BS, for awhile I was making the same or more money selling the old knob and tube stuff I removed then I did installing romex.

2 brute cans full of scrap copper got me almost 4k a couple years ago.

There was a spell a year or 2 ago where they were frying themselves by knocking down light poles and cutting them up for the aluminum.

A couple of guys were found dead in a manhole for underground electric in this area a couple years back trying to steal the conductors.

One of our remote stations from work has had the leads from the backup generator to the transfer switch stolen three times recently.

Hell NYC had a problem with folks stealing the manhole covers themselves. A hell of a yuppie trap. One minute you're walking along texting on your I-phone. The next? Well, its a long fall down. Hey, at least it wakes you up more than a double espresso. :-\
I wonder how long it will be before we all go out and buy locking gas caps. Remember those from the seventies, when God knows how many idiots died trying to syphon gas out of other people's cars?

You can say lots of bad things about pedophiles; but at least they drive slowly past schools.

all they do is punch a hole in the gas tank then... trust me.

There is a reason why we keep all our trucks locked in the building.    Actually had the bastards cut thru the chain link and razor wire fence to seal about 200 gallons worth in fuel.

Oh yeah i've handed out 6 figure invoices to people after having the non ferrous metals stolen from thier basement.  they didn't even bother turning the water off.

Something I have been meaning to bring up.
I am disappointed in TAB trying to foist off a rerun avatar on us.
I feel somehow cheated.
