Andrew Rule reports from yesterday’s de-Occupation of Melbourne:

The Battle of City Square wasn’t quite over but the result was never in doubt when a quiet policeman dropped a comment that said it all.

“Now they know we mean it,” he mused, munching a sandwich after hours of riding herd on the rag-tag coalition of protesters camped in the square.

    “No more Christine Nixon stuff.”

For which we are deeply grateful. Highlights from the big hippie toss:  ;D

This approach to resisting did not last long.. ;)

The Atomic Wedgie Squad..

Nice nail polish.

Let him at least finish his haircut.

Yep, doesn't matter what country or city, they are "just like" those Tea Party folks.... ;)

Have to save these for my grand-kids... ::)

More pics at link...Comment section is funny.

Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."

Interesting that the Police are in standard utilities and ball caps.  I bet the NYPD (or whoever) will be in full riot gear when taking out the trash.  It also kind of looked like there more cops (and onlookers) than "protesters."

The Atomic Wedgie Squad..

That one needs to be in the Motivational Posters thread!!!!!
When seconds mean the difference between life and death, the police will be minutes away.

The Atomic Wedgie Squad..

Are you sure that's a wedgie the protester is getting? I mean, that cop at the far left does seem to be enjoying himself, and does look just a trifle fey, if you get my meaning . . . ..   :o   ::)

Ah, well, all for Queen and Country, right, Mates? ? ? ? ? ?

Where are the Aussie cops sidearms?  Don't they carry a gun down there?

Might be that when working a 'non-violent' crowd control assignment where they are going to be in close contact with the perps, they might stash their weapons so retention is not a consideration.  If this is the case, I'd bet there are backups not involved in the up-close-and-personal work who are armed.

Spot on. If I were to wade into a crowd and be grabbing folks I'd prefer NOT to be wearing a side arm, as the odds of it getting taken away are greater than the odds of me being able to draw and use it. You rely on your buddies outside the "scrum" to do that for you.

This is starting to get out of hand in this country as well. In Oakland, California yesterday, these idiots stormed into a Chase bank, disrupting business, chasing out the customers, and started throwing things around. Personally, I think it's time for the cops to start cracking some skulls. It will give the ACLU something else to waste their time with, providing "defense" to these worthless, dirt bags in their endless attempt to see who can act more stupidly.

They might want to do their homework as the "1%" is NOT made up of just Wall Street traders and such.  In order to become part of the 1%, you only need to earn about 350K annually!

The 1% are doctors, lawyers, traders, executives, pro ball players, etc.....quite a mixed bag of folks that are for the most part normal people who happen to earn a shitload of money!

When did it become illegal to earn a very good living in this country or other countries?
