A Halloween Trick. Guess This Mag...Pistol Coming This Week.
« on: October 31, 2011, 07:22:16 PM »

This week, something I have always wanted, will be picked up after being on the layaway/installment plan. This is the only hint I can provide right now... ::)

What do you think it is?

 ;D

Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."
Col. Jeff Cooper.

You my friend alf, Win the Big Head Bragging Rights!!!!!! Congrats, and a good eye..!!!!

That is correct, I have a 1916 DWM Luger, all matching numbered, being picked up later this week.

Pics to follow, but here is a link to one, and mine is in better shape...

Truly classic gun porn...

Thanks alf, I was hoping to get at least 2 or 3 guess's , but I forgot the power of the gun guru's on DRTV.... ;D

I can't wait...and no I didn't pay the price this one is listed for. ;)

From what I have heard, between being Magazine and ammo sensitive, plus the complexity of the toggle action they weren't particularly reliable.
From personal experience they handle like a dream, I've wanted to actually fire one since I was 10.
You've GOT to let us know how it actually shoots.
Another thing I have heard was that because of the way the toggle action works the recoil impulse will feel "funny" to some one use to other action types.

Sorry to be the spoiler.   I lusted after Lugers for awhile, once.  Not a passion any more.  I think I'd rather have a P-1/38 now.

Hope it turns out to be as neat as you imagine.  They truly are a remarkable gun both from the mechanics and the historical/war side.  Look forward to the pictures.

My father had a Luger. Not sure if he still does? Jammed quite a bit when we took it out to the hill/range. When functioning properly it was rather accurate.
