Burning pastures
« on: March 27, 2008, 02:53:01 PM »
I'm from Kansas... duh...  ::)
 But I want to know if other states are as gung ho about burning pastures as we are here.
I mean right now, everyone and theri dog is burning fields and pastures.
Don't get me wrong.. I LOVE burning. I am right in the middle of it until all hours of the night.. but right now, 5 counties on each side of us is just a smoke ball.
Tonight we are going out and burning our watershed property.
Even though I will have a propane burner in my hand scattering fire..I  the closet pyro..will take pictures the best I can.. :)

In NC you would be pincushoned by crossbow for even smoking a cigarette in a pasture. Extreme drought. Can't even shoot bad guys outdoors with a firearm without prior notice to the fire department and a charged hose on site. Pasture burning is not a "thing" around the central part of NC. Now, I know Outlaw and Twyacht live further east and may have diffrent experience. Sounds like real fun to me though. Hot work-have beer.

Well then you guys are no fun and guess you don't want to go.. I'll have to set on the back of the tailgate when we're done and drink your cold brew for you!
( It's tough... but somebody has to do it) ;)

We are hanging tight at the moment...wind has kinda ( kinda?) come up and so we are waiting to see if iti will lay just a bit. Hate for all of our deer huntin' timber to go up in flames.  :o Supposed to have a big chance of rain though in the next day or so.. and if that happens it will start greening up before we can burn off the old. The day was so nice and warm.. no wind.. and then about 30 minutes ago the wind switched to the north and it now it's cloudy and blowing.. but we'll see what the night brings..
