Nationwide Emergency Alert Broadcast today
« on: November 09, 2011, 06:39:36 PM »
I am really shocked that the Nationwide Emergency Alert Broadcast has not been discussed on the DRTV Forum. This is a first time event and I figured there would be some sort of questioning about why and when this was done.

Not sure about you folks, but it makes me wonder as to why there needed to be a Nationwide event? ???

Any thoughts or conspiracy theories?

I didn't know anything about it until I got an e mail about this AM.
Then I had to catch the news to find out if it happened.
According to local channel 9 it was a clusterf*ck.
I don't see it as some conspiracy thing, individual stations have been required to do it on a monthly basis for decades, in fact I'm surprised the nation wide test was not tried back in the 50's.

Growing up in the 50-60's and going through nuclear bomb drills in grade school probably has numbed some of us older guys to this silliness.

We actually had a guy build a bomb shelter in his back yard in my neighbor hood.  It became quite the little rendezvous point for the boys and girls!

I have never understood why , after realizing the benefits of earth sheltered housing, people in the North continue to build above ground.

Witnessed earthen homes first hand in Iceland!  It really does make sense to let the land do the work for you!

Where would the price of oil be if the cold states cut their use of heating and cooling by 50% ?
How many houses are lost each year to forest fires/ wild fires ? When the big fire swept over the bunkers at Los Alamos several years ago all they did was burn off the brush.

Didn't want to seem more of a kook than I might already be  ::), with my new tin-foil hat and all, but Glenn Beck brought this up a few weeks back.

Brief history: The old EBS, used to leave testing to the local radio stations, a real person, threw a real switch, for the "this is only a test",...or if there was a storm, tornado, hurricane, blizzard warning,etc,....you got the info...

Than the all knowing, all seeing FCC, wanted automated "control" of every radio station, and than it got really good with BHO.....

All satellite, all XM, Sirius, DirectTV, Wi-Fi, the others etc,.....will fall under the "control" of the FCC......and right out of the intro to the Twilight Zone it will be. We control the transmission....Real 1984 type stuff....

Some say when BHO knows he is going to lose the election, and the Occupy folks are burning corporate headquarters around the country, he will suspend communications except HAM Radio, for the greater good and the country, to restore order....

I know it sounds like crazy stuff,.....but I am not getting rid of my tin foil hat......

OBTW, the story that it failed,......is probably BS.

That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."

Are you on crack ? It's the same people that lost money running a whore house.
As to the rest of your post, I won't exactly argue with you I will just say that it is like guns.
It's a tool.
It is the purpose the tool is used for that defines good or bad
Being able to immediately notify the nation of something they need to know is a good thing.
Spending a day at the range bonding with your son is a good thing
Seizing control of communications to thwart the elections is a bad thing, like doing a drive by shooting is a bad thing.
The blame does not lie with either the EAS system, or the gun.

I agree Tom, had some heavy sarcasm in my reply,....

However, if the gov't states it failed, as Rush Limbaugh, and CBS news reported,...my point was I trust this gov't and it's handling of anything with a great deal of skepticism...

If they say it failed, I have doubts...
If they say it was a success, I have doubts...

That's all...The "old" way worked just fine.....Now the FCC "dictates" that control...I agree a nationwide alert system is a good thing, but than again we're talking about the BHO admin re-vamping what was already in place.

Have been hearing about it for several days on the radio and TV.  Heard the announcement at about 2PM but no warning tone or anything.  Have no idea whether it failed or not nor do I care.  Hate it when they interrupt regular programming!
