Ruger LC-9 Reviews
« on: November 11, 2011, 06:11:37 PM »
Anyone here have the Ruger LC-9 yet?  I've read darn near everything I can find on the gun and can't find anyone complaining!

Any information on quality, problems, ammunition choice and accessories would be appreciated!

thanks in advance!

I'm curious about the LC-9 too.
""It may be laid down as a primary position, and the basis of our system, that every Citizen who enjoys the protection of a free Government, owes not only a proportion of his property, but even his personal services to the defence of it, and consequently that the Citizens of America (with a few legal and official exceptions) from 18 to 50 Years of Age should be borne on the Militia Rolls, provided with uniform Arms, and so far accustomed to the use of them, that the Total strength of the Country might be called forth at a Short Notice on any very interesting Emergency." - George Washington. Ive had one for 4 months or so.  It has been 100% reliable.  It is accurate and ergonomic.  The trigger sucks on it though.  It is very long and stacks up pretty bad at the end.  The reset is wierd too in that it clicks twice before it is truly reset.  The reset point is pretty much full let off.  The sights are usable and probably wont get replaced.  As far as CCW I carry it and a Glock 26 in a High Noon IWB and it really doesnt conceal any better than the G26.  The ammo I have ran through it is Hydra Shock 124, Winchester Ranger 147, and Winchester White box.  I have also run 115gr reloads.  Having said all of that....the trigger isnt a deal breaker for me as it is still usable.  I do like the LC9 and dont have plans of replacing it any time soon.  FWIW
I've got two guns, one for each of ya!

I was looking at one the other day, it's quite a bit larger than the LCP , it might fit in the pocket of a coat or jacket but not a shirt or pair of pants.
I'll stick with my  Kel Tec for pocket carry, if I have to use a holster any way I might as well stick with my 1911.

I used to carry my SP101 in a front pocket of my cargo pants.  I think the LC-9 is smaller and certainly lighter.

I was hiking the other day and my 1911 was really bothersome banging against my bad hip so I either have to find a better way to carry or find something smaller.

Lighter might be all you need?  I  hear they are doing great things with synthetics in pistols lately.   ;D

I don't have one but handled one at the LGS the other day.  It felt OK, not great, but the safety seemed really stiff to get on/off.  It was also seemed to be a little oddly placed IMO.  It didn't exactly seem in a place my thumb landed naturally, other's reults may vary.  Didn't really mess with the trigger or actually get to shoot it.  Sights seemed decent.

My 1911 is an aluminum Commander size.  Even with a fully loaded mag it's only about 31 ounces.  I've been sliding it forward to the 3 o'clock position when I walk.  I really don't want to get rid of it but without an income at the moment my only option is to sell it or trade for something.

Unless you don't think you will every be using it again and if you have no one for it to be a "hand me down" , don't sell it.  That isn't a weapon you want to be rid of...
