Today was the deadline for me to apply for a scholarship from the Friends of the NRA here in North Carolina. While the money comes from them, the application goes to the college (my instructors). I think I was the only one that went to the trouble of obtaining the document in electronic form and typing it out. I also had to write a short piece stating why I was qualified for and why I believe I should be selected for the scholarship. Here it is:
I am a proud naturalized citizen of the USA who firmly believes in the Constitution, especially the Second Amendment. I support the work of the NRA in defense of the Second Amendment and am a Life Member. I recognize the importance of the Friends of NRA and continue to support them. Academically, I am maintaining excellent grades. I have integrated well into college life and represent my fellow gunsmithing students on the Montgomery Community College Student Government Association where I also serve as the Public Information Officer. I am also member of the Phi Beta Lambda club, will be joining the newly formed Montgomery Community College Trailblazers Shooting Club and am a Range Safety Officer. I am meticulous in all my endeavors and strive to do everything to the highest possible standard. Even though I get high accolades for my work I always look at it critically and look for elements to be improved upon. I truly believe a gunsmith is an artist that uses a canvas of wood and steel. My passion is to create art in wood steel and my desire is to be counted as such an artist.
Now comes the waiting part......
