Thanks for the message Michael, BUT.........
« on: November 22, 2011, 11:17:34 PM »
Well as my header say.............Thanks for the message Michael, BUT..............

The posting you sent out about Colt giving away a gun on Facebook was great, BUT, Colt says I can't enter. Yup, because I live in MASS they won't let me enter, that's no way to run a contest. If they are going to do a contest it should be for everyone.

I gave up on Colt years ago when they sold us regualar folks out and wouldn't sell to the pubic.

This is what I posted on the FB Link:

Just another reason why I don't like Colt anylonger. I can't enter to win the gun because I live in MASS. Come on Colt, if you are going to do something like this make it so EVERYONE can have a chance. I gave up on Colt when they turned there backs on us everyday folks and said we won't sell to the public anylonger, then the govenment money dried up and they came back to the public and never said sorry. Take your joke of a contest and put it where the sun doesn't shine !!!

Again thanks for trying to help us shooters out, it's just to bad Colt doesn't want to help us out !!!

See Ya

I'll plead ignorance here because I haven't been following this. Is there perhaps some legal reason Colt is excluding Mass. citizens from entering? Or is this one of those, "Contest void for employees and family members", type of rules?

Must be a gun that the state of Massachusetts has not deem fit for their subjects constituents.

I was thinking that as well. Something that isn't Massachusetts "compliant".

The giveaway is for a Colt 1911.

I doubt that Colt specifically choose to exclude Mass. residents from the contest because they don't like them.

I can only think of one reasons why Colt would make that limitation.

This model is not authorized to be owned by Mass. residents by state law.

I have no idea what restrictions Mass. might have against particular Colt firearms, but I think your dissatisfaction needs to be directed at your state legislature and not at Colt this time.

I'm no big fan of Colt, but you can't blame them because your politicians suck.

As a Mass resident myself I can attest that this is the case.  The current list of "approved" firearms has not one (1) Colt firearm listed.  It is not Colt's doing, it's the Firearms Bureau in Newton, run by the State that makes that call.  Actually, I applaud the manufacturers that refuse to buy into the whole system.

Here's the October 2011 list if anyone's interested.

http://www.mass.gov/Eeops/docs/chsb/firearms/approved_firearms_roster_06-2011.pdf

p.s.  Glocks are only approved if they're used or refurbished.  Technically, you cannot buy a new Glock in MA from what I understand.  In addition, makers like Sig, who have five or eight models of a particular gun like the P226, each and every one would need to be submitted for approval at considerable cost.

As others stated, it's legislative thing in MA. The gun I registered to win is a Colt 1911....The politicians in that state are totally phucked in the head when it comes to firearms.....  ::)
