I live on a golf course. Not because I play or like the sport, but life is funny that way and at least I can fish in the water hazards. Anyway, starting this weekend there is some big pro-am tournament thingy going on. Today I watched all the silliness and remembered this clip. Robin Williams giving my opinion of golf, and doing it like a Scotsman. What's not to love? If only I had loudspeakers. I'll be fishing tomorrow, but maybe Sunday I'll get the pipes out to "help" them on the putting green. Heritage don't cha' know. ;)
FQ13 who says if you either hate or love golf, this is worth a listen. Classic, but PG-21

I've always thought they were a rather inefficient use of space.   However, like FQ, my house backs up to a golf course and it gives me a certain amount of separation between me an my neighbors.  It's a nice view, too.   Actually we have two fairways, a major creek and a 1/2 acre pond, so it's almost like being in the country.

I grew up playing golf with my father and brothers during the three seasons that allow it in Michigan.  I loved the game and actually got down to about a 10-11 handicap for a time.  Michigan has become the "Myrtle Beach" of the north over the last thirty years but the cost of playing has skyrocketed along with that.

I don't play anymore but it's something that, once upon a time I enjoyed doing just like skiing, hunting, shooting or any number of other things.

FQ, you're pooping on your heritage being a Scot and not caring for the game that originated in Scotland.  Once upon a time, the King had to outlaw the game to force his archers to practice archery instead of playing golf!  The term "caddie" stems from Mary, Queen of Scots, using her "Cadets" to carry her bag around the links.

I kind of got that Tim. I was just thinking, what could celebrate a golf tournament that has jammed my street with traffic more than me wearing a kilt, combat boots, blue chest paint, and a cowboy hat playing the pipes on the putting green? It seems very appropriate to me, I mean it is our heritage, and oh, for open carry laws ;D. I suppose I could stand by the tee and yell "Ye're tha' man, laddie!", but its already been done. ;D
FQ13 who really is a bit tired of the idiocy of the event, but the beer cart girls are cute, and the chaos is amusing. It just seems like one should add to it as its all a bit too staid. Its like that sports bar ad where the guy turns the sprinklers on during the football game. That's what this event needs, bit of  evil whimsy. ;)

I'm not sure which I would pay more for, a picture of that, or not having to look at it.   ???
It creates a mental image worthy of one of Red's posters.     :o

I think you justified another posting of the "assets" of some golf viewing.

Yes, as Col. Cooper stated, It is a waste of a perfectly good rifle range, but as a golfer, the similarities between shooting and golf are as pronounced as (check photos again).....

Stance, grip, balance, the ol' eye hand thingy, pace, speed/tempo, focus, etc,...

OBTW, (check photos again)..... ;D

Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."
Col. Jeff Cooper.

Though you can't curve a bullet, you can curve a golf ball.  Once you learn how to HIT the ball, you begin the frustrating lesson on how to manipulate it to your liking.

It's not the tool as they say, it's the guy pulling the trigger!  Works for both disciplines...
