Guess I Scooped Michael Bane with TSA Video
« on: March 30, 2008, 09:14:45 PM »
Enjoy......

http://youtube.com/watch?v=bqOLjEli6yY

When I have time I want to come back and spank Jim Shepard for evoking that hoariest of hoary misconceptions:
you can't shout Fire! in a crowded theatre.

Best regards to all,

Does anyone know which company dropped the ball in designing or at the very least producing such a dangerous product to meet TSA requirements. If so I doubt any gun owner with a shred of common sense should buy anything they produce.

From the Michael Bane Blog...

Michael Bane said...
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION!

The holster is a DeSantis FDO, apparently first trotted out in the Clinton era. And no, don't blame Gene DeSantis for this travesty...it's built to a government spec, purchased by the government and issued to various and sundry federal agencies.

The holster was issued with a padlock and the instructions to keep the gun locked in the holster when it was not on the belt.

The smart ones threw the padlocks away...

You want to screw up a fundamentally "good" idea of armed pilots?

Get a Government Agency involved to regulate it and put policies in place made by non-firearm familiar idiots.

Just wait until the Gov. takes over healthcare! AH! it will be beautiful.

Great video.
Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."
Col. Jeff Cooper.

Don't blame the holster or the gun blame the idiot who pushed on the gun when it was obvious the the lock goes through the trigger guard and in front of the trigger and any moron would know if you push  down on the gun  you are going to push on the whole thing . If its not right in the first place go back and re do the whole thing. Guns, holsters and locks are inanimate objects . The lock was meant to be used on a unloaded gun. At least that's how that's my slightly egdemucated mind works.

Gunman is correct.  It is still operator error (seems like that is the most common thing we hear when ever anything goes wrong on a plane), and regarless of how stupid the system is we are charged with being safe.  If the video is an accurate reinactment of what happened it just shows the areas where the pilot oooopsed.

Looking at these procedures I have one question:  Where is Todd Jarrett, and why don't I hear him screaming "SERPA, SERPA, SERPA!"  I know that they don't have one with a key or combination, but I bet that holster could be better adapted than anything else on the market.  I would think that they could adapt a level 3 pretty clean and easy.

Guys, guys! You are all wrong. The weakest link here is the lock!
TSA burrocrats didn't do their due diligence when they picked the lock design.
This is the one to use http://www.padlock.s-a-w.net/seiten/9977.htm
Who needs the gun when you can wear the lock like this?!
 ;D
