J Frame Security Holster New Twist on an Old Idea
« on: December 08, 2011, 12:20:37 AM »
I get quite a few requests for an OWB holster for the J frame S&W and Taurus snubs that offered more security than a standard pancake or avenger design. This is what I came up with.
For those of you that, like me, are old you will recognize the similarity to the old upside down shoulder rigs that were once popular.
This design incorporates a full lenth welt at the rear of the holster. The front of the holster is split the length of the cylinder and covered with a strip of mil spec elastic. When the weapon is holstered the back of the triggerguard is trapped under the welt yet a normal draw stroke forward and up easily releases it. It is pretty darn secure and nearly snatch resistant from the rear. It also works with most of the aftermarket grips and laser grips except for those models that cover the entire back of the triggerguard.
So what do you all think?

Thanks for the compliments guys. I've noticed a real upsurge in interest in the little revolving pocket rockets since S&W decided to reclaim the small revolver market and take Taurus and Charter on head to head. I can see why too with most of the S&W models available under $400 sometimes way under. I don't care if the internals are mim they are pretty nice.
