WASHINGTON — A gunman was on the loose Thursday at Virginia Tech after he shot a police officer and possibly a second person, said the university, scene of a 2007 massacre in which 32 people died.
"Suspect remains at large. A police officer has been shot. A potential second victim is reported at the Cage lot. Stay indoors. Secure in place," it told students and staff on its website (www.vt.edu).

However, sorry to say this, but my first knee jerk reaction especially in light of the recent Fast and Furious Congressional hearings is....hmmn...okay, how are the Feds going to leverage this now for more gun control?

BLACKSBURG, Va. –  Virginia Tech says there is no longer a threat on campus and normal activities can resume after two people, including a police officer, were gunned down on Virginia Tech's campus on Thursday.
