I don't try to convince anti-gunners..I gave up on that back in high school or early college.  What I do is expose them as being intolerant, bigoted and mean-spirited.  That goes a lot further with an audience and puts them on the defensive...sometimes they even shut up without anyone having to tell them too.

They aren't sharing ideas...they are expressing emotions.  So...when I engage these people in this manner they aren't expecting it...they are expecting someone to engage their emotions with a rational fact based debate.  I don't scream & holler...just pleasantly with an incredulous look express the appropriate observation of them being bigots....it gets inside their OODA loop and messes them up when you walk away on the basis that they are "emotionally impaired" or otherwise crazy.

Here again we disagree. I never was much for name calling (even if its true). You may not convince them, but you might convince someone who is listening. Rational debate is a powerful tool, just be sneaky about it. As you say, you may not convince them about guns. But maybe you can convince them about tolerance. Don't call them a bigot and leave the room, try to sell a live and let live policy instead. That resonates with their values and might actually work. But then, I'm an optimist.

I think you misunderstand, it is not name calling, it is taking away their argument by showing the racist , illogical base that it rests on.

I am a massive fan of youtube 
as I don't have cable tv  and when there is nothing on free to air i just sit on yt watching all sorts of stuff

and I love messing with people's heads on it,   don't do it much however have fun when I do

people get all worked up

what I laugh at the most how aggressive greenies and vego's get about animal rights  stuff

makes them more pissed off when you point that out as well
