Added to my Ruger family over the weekend
« on: December 21, 2011, 11:20:15 AM »
I went to the LGS and they had two single sixes on consignment.  Both the same price.  One was stainless with light colored wood grips.  The second was blued with darker colored grips.  I didn't bother to research the serial numbers on either gun at the time.  I just went back and forth over which to get.  I'm usually a blued kinda guy but I really wanted the stainless.  I looked the stainless over for ever and just couldn't bring myself to get it.  The gun had a lot of scratches and wasn't in the best of shape.  Being stainless, I know that I could have cleaned it up but I didn't want to put any work into it at the price I was going to be paying (300).

So I decided the blued model was going to be the best option.  It has a little wear around the edges (likely from a holster) and didn't come with a box or anything.  But I talked to my buddy that works at the shop and he remembered the guy that brought it in.  He couldn't remember how old it was but it was a one owner gun that was rarely used.  So I bought it.  Really happy I did.  Its not a three screw but that didn't matter to me.  It is, however, a 1975 model and it works well with my 1972 10/22 and Liberty model 1976 10/22.

Not the best picture I know but you get the point.  I couldn't leave the other Rugers out so they came out of the safe for a family portrait.  You can tell I love my Ruger 22s.  I have a lot more Rugers I want to add to this but they will take time to save for and find.

Glad the ol' Ruger, gets to join your family.....Congratulations!!

Nice family.

Now.   How about doing something with those 10/22s?   Turn one into a tacti-cool and the other into a tack drivin' varmint shooter.  You can leave one plain-jane.

The two wood stock versions are incredibly important to me in a sentimental way.  They will stay as they are.  The boat paddle that I just bought was purchased specifically to build into a tacticool as another host for my suppressor.
