When Tomb Guards Speak

Sad that they need to speak up, but great that there are individuals willing to accept the lifestyle and commitment to render this honor.  A great lesson into the fact that this is an actual guard and not just fluff.  Also, sad that the public needs to be reminded of proper manors.

On the same vane, have you ever noticed the number of signs in cemeteries explaining the rules?  Sad to realize that the reason they are there is because someone did that stuff.  Even worse is that in our area nearly every cemetery has a sign telling people not to ride snowmobiles across the cemetery.  Even sadder is that I have yet to pass a snow covered cemetery that does not have snowmobile tracks running right around the signs

Another point of order:

How many understand that most states have traffic laws that treat a funeral procession the same as an emergency vehicle.  You must pull over as you meet them, to let them pass, and give them the right of way at intersections (this one is actually stricter than an emergency vehicle just requesting the right of way at controlled intersections).

Many think that it is just an old fashioned grandpa thing, but in many states it is the law!

I actually blurted out "Effin A!!!" when I watched the video.

These young men are there to guard the Tomb and guard it they do. They actually challenge the visitors who are mis-behaving by stepping off the carpet and presenting arms to make it abundantly clear that someone has transgressed.

bho and his ilk are a bunch of sanctimonious marxists and generally a bunch of asswipes. God willing, these young men - like the Marines I saw at UCSD San Diego in August - will save this country someday in spite of them.

As posted, when I lived in NC, folks pulled over, in BOTH directions for a funeral procession,...Here in FL,....no one gives a sh**...

The Tomb Of The Unknowns is guarded by the most stringent qualifications of the Old Guard, 24/7, 365.....Blizzard, hurricane, thunderstorm, makes no difference....

An increase in having the Guard "speak" also is an indication of the cultural demise of this Country.

Reverence and respect. That is all that is asked to visit this honored place. It's really not as big of a sacrifice as those that Guard this hallowed ground.

We took a field trip in middle school to Arlington....back in the day,....NEVER, has a group of otherwise rowdy kids, myself included, ever just STFU, and realized the relevance of this location....

Like Crusader posted, many moons ago,....I do weep for this Country....

The little cemetery where I left my wife has little punk rednecks running 4-wheelers on grass more than snowmobilers in winter, just because there's a fence, and the snow banks make that little stretch of road dangerous in winter.. The little punks even knock over headstones and have used them as jump ramps.. And I couldn't shoot em.. I never saw em, just saw the damage..

One of my Drill Sgts in Ft. Jackson was on loan from The Old Guard. That tough, kind, squared away SOB blessed my life.. He was the reason I made it. I let him down one time and I don't know who it hurt worse, him or me..
His name was Hector Martinez, and may God bless him!..

Alot of folks don't realize that those guys are deployed, active, and will kill yo ass if called on to do so.. They're not just show.. They're as highly trained and alert as any Infantry Unit in the Army..

I saw one of these before, and thought it was an exception, an unusual occurance. 

But now it appears to be all too common that the Guards have to tell people to stand up, stay back, and show some respect.

I suppose it would be too disrespectful if one of the Guards poked that bayonet in somebody's ass, but I think they might need to do that on occasion.


I am shaking my head sadly.......
