At Las Vegas International Airport, TSA supervisor [REDACTED] is keeping travelers safe from the terror of delicious cupcakes-in-a-jar. I learned this firsthand earlier today, when I put myself and my fellow travelers at risk by attempting to travel with one.

The agent who first found my dangerously delectable snack consulted [REDACTED] about it just barely within my earshot. He responded hesitantly at first, saying that he was “not sure”–and “with the holidays coming, it’s getting harder and harder.” When he finally decided my treat was a no-go, I asked to speak with him directly, and he asserted that the frosting on this red velvet cupcake is “gel-like” enough to constitute a liquid, in part because it “conforms to its container.” Also: it “should have been in a zip-lock.” At this, I offered to scoop my dangerously conformist cupcake out of its jar and place it in a zip-lock bag, where it could mush about to its heart’s content; but Agent [REDACTED] wisely refused. After all, the jar in all its tasty glory “clearly contains more than 3 ounces of total contents,” he said.

Relax fellas at least you know, that at least this xmas no one will be stealing cup cakes from your country......

This is part of Michelle's crusade to tell everyone what to eat.  TSA has been instructed to confiscate any unhealthy snacks.  Relax, it's for your own good.  You should be thanking her.

Take your laced  I mean flavored  cupcakes in a receptacle that won't pass muster and then have them cofiscated and hope the miserable TSA bastards eat them.

as funny as it may sound, if I was going to take something on the plane I was not supose too( rather it be for harm or just transporting something)  I'd most likly hide it in something that would be over looked, baked goods would clearly be a good choice.


Thats not to say I agree with them, Devils advocate and all.

PEABODY — A Massachusetts woman says an airport security officer in Las Vegas confiscated her frosted cupcake because he thought the icing on it could be a security risk.

Peabody resident Rebecca Hains says the Transportation Security Administration agent took her cupcake, telling her its frosting was "gel-like" enough to violate TSA policies.

The TSA has restrictions on taking liquids and gels onto flights to prevent them from being used as explosives.

Hains says she had passed through security at Boston’s Logan International Airport with two cupcakes packaged in jars. But she says she was stopped Wednesday on her return from Las Vegas with one of them.

TSA spokesman Nico Melendez said Friday the agency is reviewing the situation. He says passengers are allowed to take cakes and cupcakes through checkpoints.

The person from Aus is a male aged 52.
It seems that cup cakes are a known problem.

If I were to smuggle contraband in a baked good it wouldn't be explosives. What? I'm claustraphobic. I have a prescription, I swear. ;)
