CR, which one of Evan Williams are you speaking of?  I'm a scotch guy but bourbon has character as well!

I have enjoyed both the black label AND the green label, but prefer the black.  They also produce a high-end along the lines of Gentleman Jack.  Haven't tried it, but I find Evan superior to anything by the Daniels distillery.  I also enjoy Maker's Mark, but for the money, Evan is my choice.

I do enjoy a good Scotch, both single malts and blends.  If you're into Scotch, try any of the Japanese whiskeys--Suntory comes to mind.  A couple hundred years ago, a Scot showed up in Japan with a developing thirst.  He set up the distillery to resemble what he knew from home.  The result has been very acceptable, smokey, complex whiskey.  If you try it,let me know your thoughts.

Is that comment based on something more than the fact it does not come from Bourbon County Kentucky ?

Bourbon doesn't need to be distilled in Kentucky anymore but there are certain things that are required...

Jack Daniels is Proudly named Tennessee Whiskey by it's producers.  It's filtering through charcoal makes it unique to other corn mash whiskeys.

I've drunk my share, but if I have to drink Bourbon I really prefer Evan Williams or George Dickel. Maker's Mark is a bit smoother, but if I'm spending that much I'd rather buy a good rum or tequila.

That is correct fine sir!  But don't call it bourbon in Lynchburg, TN, they'll run your yankee ass out of town!

Here's more worthless drivel on bourbon..

"Bourbon Whisky must contain a minimum of 51% corn, be produced in the United States, be distilled at less than 80% ABV (160 proof) and be aged for a minimum of two years in new charred barrels, although in practice virtually all straight whiskies are aged at least four years. Any Bourbon, or any other domestic or imported whiskey, for that matter, that has been aged less than four years must contain an age statement on the label. Small Batch Bourbons are bourbons that bottled from a small group of specially selected barrels that are blended together. It should be noted though that each distiller has their own interpretation of what constitutes a "small batch." Single Barrel Bourbon is Bourbon from one specifically chosen cask.

I just picked up a bottle of Woodford Reserve for my evening!  We'll see if it stands up to it's history...

They had Evan Williams but only in the 1/2 gallon variety of bottling.  I need to try a few drams before I drop 15 bucks on a quart of the stuff... ;)
