Paul is Roadkill and Santorum is Alive
« on: January 03, 2012, 11:01:48 PM »
Its midnight give or take. The Iowa results show Romney and Santorum tied at 24.6% and Paul coming in third at a little less than 22%. Paul needed a convincing win. He didn't get it, game over. What is interesting, and frustrating for me, is that the religious right seems to have abandonded Perry and rallied behind Santorum, my least favorite candidate. I was ready to write the guy off a couple of weeks ago. Now,if he doesn't get humiliated in NH, and can come in at least second in SC, he's still in the hunt. That said, Iowa gave Huckabee the nod in 2008, and that went nowhere.  But if Santorum can pull support in SC and carry that into the Bible Belt on Super Tuesday? Well, it could be interesting. Gingrich was at something like 13%. That's not surprising in a caucus state, but he damn well better show something in NH or he has problems. Its been an interesting night.

The FQ endorsement:  Need to check this guy out a little closer  ;)

Seriously FQ:  This is one caucus.  It is a long road, and if Ron Paul is "roadkill" over this he wasn't seriously in this to begin with.

I agree with m58, this is far from over but as to Santorum, he's a lawyer and a lifelong politician who's never held a real job in his life.  He probably won't carry this too far.

Time will tell, I didn't think ODamna could beat Hitlery either!

Paul ?
One caucus is not the end of the world.
My guess for NH ?
Romney #1, Paul or Newt #2  #3 could be a surprise, Huntsman has been very active here.
The nomination ?
My bet is Romney, he's the darling of both the media and the RNC, he's gotten endorsements from everybody from jimma carter to Ann Coulter.
My opinion is he's "Same old, same old" POS.

The SC primary has been the deciding state historically.  If you go by history, the guy who wins there will get the nod.  We'll see!

Actually Tim, I believe you will find that Dixville Notch NH calls it correctly most of the time.

I really don't care what history or the experts say.  When the time comes I will cast my vote for the one I agree with the most.

Does Minnesota have a primary ?
That's when it's imperative to support the guy you will do the best job.
In the general election it's just a matter of keeping out the Dems.

Living here it's a moot point though!
