Hot off the iPresses:

Madison, NC, January 4, 2012 – Remington Arms Company and its parent, Freedom Group, Inc. (FGI), are pleased to announce that the board of directors has appointed Robert L. Nardelli as Chief Executive Officer . . .

Mr. Nardelli was named director and a member of FGI’s Office of the CEO in September, 2010, following the resignation of the former CEO.  “Over the past 15 months, under Bob Nardelli’s strong leadership, Freedom Group has enhanced its operational capabilities and is now positioned to focus on customers with renewed intensity on technology and product development,” said John Blystone, Chairman of Freedom Group, Inc.  ”We are most fortunate to have one of the top business leaders of his generation at the helm of this iconic American company.”

Mr. Nardelli joined Cerberus Capital Management in the spring of 2007, and, shortly thereafter, was named Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Chrysler Motors Company, LLC.
Mr. Nardelli will continue to serve as an advisor to Cerberus and CEO of its operations team, Cerberus Operations and Advisory Company, LLC.  Prior to joining Cerberus, Mr. Nardelli was Chairman and CEO of the Home Depot, Inc.

Anyone remember bailing out the auto industry? Chrysler was one of them...Sure it could be a bum wrap,...but,....unlike BHO, most CEO's that are at the helm of a failed company, are held responsible.

Just food for thought.
Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."

Timing is important. I believe Chrysler was in the crapper long before Cerberus bought them back from the Germans who bought out Fiats share.

Chrysler peeked out over the edge of the bowl for a couple years there, at least their design team--but the build quality has been solidly in the crapper for 40+ years.  How much of that was economic engineering and how much was union labor ??? dunno.

I saw an interview of a CEO of one of the Auto companies, who was a car guy, imagine his disappointment when he found out his primary duties were managing the benefits for the company.  If you wonder why American Automotive manufacturers are in the crappers its because bean counters have taken over leaving the car guys to make their money else where and pay someone to build them the cars they want (or take the easy route and buy an exotic sports car).

I had one of those K cars.. They were ugly and all but they worked.. I'm glad, in retrospect, that we did that one, and Harley too.. These more recent bailouts, no..
