I read on some other forum that in Siberia, I think it was, that there is methane trapped under the glaciers or the ice.

That's correct!  I saw it on a thing I watched late one night on PBS last week.  Essentially trapped decayed matter from millions of years trapped beneath the perma frost.  When the perma frost started to thaw, it released the methane.  A Russian scientist decided to experiment by allowing horses and livestock back in a controlled area to repack the perma frost and it temporally corrected the phenomena.

The rest of the program was drivel and voodoo science of gloom and doom!

Found a link to a write up on Global Temps and a graph from 2500 BC  to 2030 AD.  You can decide how valid the "science" is.

http://www.longrangeweather.com/global_temperatures.htm

Until recently, global temperatures were more than a degree Fahrenheit warmer when compared to the overall 20th Century mean. From August of 2007 through February of 2008, the Earth’s mean reading dropped to near the 200-year average temperature of 57 degrees. Since that time, the mean reading has been fluctuating. (See Long-Term Chart Below.)

<SNIP>

But, we should remember, that the Earth’s coldest periods have usually followed excessive warmth. Such was the case when our planet moved from the Medieval Warm Period between 900 and 1300 A.D. to the sudden ‘Little Ice Age,’ which peaked in the 17th Century.

By the end of this 21st Century, a big cool down may occur that could ultimately lead to expanding glaciers worldwide, even in the mid-latitudes. We could possibly see even a new Great Ice Age. Based on long-term climatic data, these major ice ages have recurred about every 11,500 years. Well, you guessed it. The last extensive ice age was approximately 11,500 years ago, so we may be due. Again, only time will tell.

After all the cover ups and bad science that was put out, how can anyone with any sense take this stuff seriously?

An Inconvenient Truth was anything but truth!

You mean to say if some folks misuse "science", you will no longer trust any science in that area?

Me, I prefer a view that looks at the temp changes as trends/cause effect events over a long period of time rather than one that makes predictions based on very recent history and says the cause is human activity.

I particularly like it when the long view has the possibility of a Great Ice Age instead of global warming based upon long term trends.

Fool me once, shame on you!  Fool me twice, shame on me!

The problem here is that our kids are being taught bad science and believing everything their liberal professors are telling them.  Try and convince a man of science he's wrong!  It's nearly impossible...

There is an agenda in the lefty science community!
