Perry.. Not fighting, just asking..

I'm asking as a 2A, NRA Life Member, (lapsed) GOA member, Concealed Carry, et al advocate/practitioner, member of forums like this one, and in that respect, at least, not unlike you all here..

Why not Perry?..
The guy goes to the range to unwind and just as his hobby. He CCs everywhere he goes, because that's what he does, not because he's an elected, public figure.. Of the field, I don't think anybody comes close to his record on 2A issues. He doesn't lead with rhetoric. He leads with actions, both legislative and personal.
On this issue, Santorum isn't bad, but not as good as Perry, I don't think, because he doesn't carry as a rule that I know of.
RP? Who knows...
Huntsman says what he says but I don't see a guy who isn't going to compromise on liberty "for the sake of the greater/common good".
Gingrich talks a good game but he's not the guy who I can trust that 4 or 8 years after he takes office that I know that my liberty will be as intact/expanded as it was on Jan 20 2013.
Romney has a bad record on 2A. $100 per firearm, annualy in Mass, or you're a criminal who will go to jail/lose said firearms..

On the economic issues of the day, Perry is as good or better than any of the rest of them. TARP would never have happened under Perry. Trillion a pop Debt increases would never happen under Perry. Not even Gingrich can make me believe that he would never do that..
Paul, if he actually wanted the job, would let it explode and pretend that the carnage that followed didn't exist, from what I hear. Everything I hear him say kinda sounds like he'd pull the pin and walk away without evacuating the building. I've never heard him say anything about an orderly step back to whatever Ammendment he wants to strip it down to..

Without going on at length on the other stuff though, why not Perry, as gun guys, one and all..

Not arguing either but there is NO $100.00 fee per firearm in MA!

In fact, there are NO FEE's on firearms in MA at all to the consumer!  There IS a $100.00 fee to renew your CC permit that's called an LTC here and that's for six (6) years.  Other than the fee's associated with getting a firearm approved for sale here, there are NO fees on the consumer, period!  I can buy out the entire gun store in the time it takes to fill out the paperwork!

Whomever made that statement, I think it was Newt, was blatantly wrong and he should fire that researcher!

I have no problem with Perry!  I don't think he'll be the guy though...

The Perry seen now, is not the one we witnessed early on....As much as I would vote for him, he kinda turned folks off saying he would send troops "back to Iraq"....Not a good move...IMHO...

The National scale of politics, exponentially outweigh the state level,...even by Texas standards....I think he stumbled one too many times.

Although, I like him, like what he stands for, as a gun owner, NRA member, CCW permit holder. The single digit polling is going to be tough to overcome....There needs to be a groundswell, and I haven't seen one.

I will hold out for optimism in SC....

Cause Florida is right after.

I just watched the Huckabee (II) debate.. The forum is marginally better than the typical format but that's not my point..
I watched and Perry did as well as, or imo, better than anybody on stage.. He's a little goofy, but so are most folks, Businessmen, Pols and all..
It breaks my heart that the man seems to be done, and nobody much cares a whit who gets elected..
The man has joy in his heart, confidence in his ideas because he's proven each of them in real time himself, an attitude that about the office and himself that is pretty rare and needed..
Duncan Hunter all over again.. Good man, perfect for the job and nobody cares..

I hope he tries again in a few years... after he takes a hard look at what he's done right and wrong this go around.  He should spend the next four years studying and preparing for the national stage.  He's certainly in the right place on the 2A.

I've also been saying that it's not just the Presidential races, we need the House and the Senate as well!  Don't lose sight of the target!

Last time the politburo told me to fall in, we got marched over the cliff. Those who refused to do so salvaged a sliver of what some self appointed poet leader so dutifully gave away, (all at no cost to himself), two years later. I tell you once again. We tried it that way last time, (and in 92, and 86, and 76, and so on). This time I lead.. If I can be told to follow or die by some faceless idea of compromise, I can do so as well..
This time, I lead.. Choose accordingly.. Divided we fall, but I'm not moving... Give it another pull and see what gives.. I'm every bit as entitled to choose my own destiny as the writer is to choose yours..
