Sig Sauer ACP - Adaptive Carbine Platform

I know... the subject includes "Carbine" and here I am in the Handguns area.  Well, I wasn't really sure where to put this thing.  It kinda fits in Handguns, in TR&C, and I guess in NFA as well.  This is a SHOT Show Sneak Peek from Tactical Gear Magazine.

Just take a look and you'll see what I mean.  Wherever it belongs, I would love to have one.

The LE version is the only version that NFA rules would apply to, and probably the most useful.  I have seen other versions of a handgun/carbine adapter but this one looks promising because its universal.

Other than the LE version, and even then its still a pistol, I don't see much need for one in my arsenal although it would be cool in certain applicaions. 

I'm thinking a FN in 5.7 would be cool, with a silencer and red dot, for sage rats.

If you attach a vertical foregrip, does it then become an AOW?  If so, I foresee a bunch of "inadvertent" felons.

Ya know, I am not seeing the attraction to this, nor the reason... if I going to have something shoulder fired, I sure as heck want it firing a rifle cartridge, not a pistola round! As a cop, I cannot see HOW this would be deployed, nor when!

Perhaps I am just a Naysayer who hates change!

There must be some purpose for it but I don't see it. It's still just a pistol, but with extra weight added on. No thanks.

Well, if you already have something like a Glock 17 and some 33-round magazines, then you're not too far away from having a "PDW-like" setup.  Add the sling and optic and maybe you would have something useful for executive protection.

It provides the option for multiple accessories - light, laser, and optics at the same time.  And because all of the accessories ride the ACP and not the pistol, then setting up with a differenct weapon is a snap - just check your zero and go.

It will be interesting to see how Sig Sauer markets the ACP.

IMO something that handles like a carbine should have a carbine length barrel to get carbine ballistics which would give you about 1/3 more energy depending on caliber.

Uh, Tommy Gun?  ;D Some had shoulder stocks, some had just a pair of grips... Although this seems like a novelty, tacticool...

I'm with you there, but maybe it's just you and me.  I see that as trying to compete with the P90, but that as the advantage (ballistically) of 5.7?

Certainly looks cool and might be fun to shoot for a day.

Looks like a waste of money to double the weight of your pistol.
They already have an NFA device that does all that, in better calibers it's called a SBR.
Note that the round used to release the rear is not a pistol round.
