Glock 20 gen 1

There is a guy here locally that would like to trade his gen 1 glock 20 for my glock 19.  Any suggestions before I do something I regret.  I have a glock 26 now also, so I dont really need both do I?  I seen the pictures it looks like a gen 2, and has an adjustable rear sight.  My 19 is a gen 2 box stock, any suggestions would be appreciated.  I travel to alaska and thought a good cheap 10mm would be nice to have.  (worried about airlines stealing)

That's the good thing about Glocks, so ugly you don't get attached    I don't like getting rid of guns but in this case I would do it given the fact that you have another 9mm and you need a 10mm for Alaska

There are several free upgrades from Glock for Gen 1 models...

The ones I recall, from a Gen 1 Glock 21, are;  Frame rails, ejector, firing pin safety, re-cut the extractor slot in the slide and new extractor. 

I think that is it, but you can check at the Glock site.

Or some of the Glock Armorers might have more complete info.

Only issue is trying to find 10mm ammo. Once found, it is going to be expensive. If you have the money, go for it. Other than that, do what you want. Sounds like you are interested in the trade?  Ballistics for a 10mm are very impressive and would not mind owning a G20 myself.

I can drive down to Meijer or, God forbid, Wally World, and pick up a box or four of .45 ACP. I could not do that with 10mm around my neck of the woods. Availability when be a factor in my decision.

I own a G20 I bought new back in 1996. It is probably one of my favorite firearms well that and my S&W 1006 but the Glock is more versatile. I have the stock barrel and a Lone Wolf stainless barrel so I can use my lead reloads. I also bought a 40 S&W conversion barrel from Lone Wlof as well since I had thousands of pieces of 40 brass laying around. Next on my list is the Lone Wolf long slide and barrel for maximum velocity and maybe some hog hunting. Did I mention it's versatile . I will warn you the 10mm is addictive I'm up to 3 with 4 maybe 5 more on my list but I still love the versatilty of the G20. I say do it ammo is availible but reloading makes the 10mm even better. There is a good article on reloading for the 10mm in Gun World magazine this month.
