tracing a K31 chambers in. 308 ? help

i recently picked up a (what i thought to be) a K31 Swiss 7.5x5.   turns ot it its chambered in. 308.  i tried to do a Google search on its serial number but got nowhere.  does anyone know of a good way to find out its history?

thanks,  now I have found that is is actually a 1911 swiss.  The barrel is a Remington M1903 barrel so until I cast the chamber I will not know for sure what the caliber.  It could be a 30-06.  I will rule this out tomorrow by seeing if  a 30-06 will fit (not fire) haha  thank you, I will look into the website/forum.
