Finally got another P90
« on: January 31, 2012, 02:40:26 PM »
Well, in a fit of instanity (actually, a fit of being hard up and needing some money) I sold my P90 a few years ago.  Have wanted another ever since, but didn't want to spend a fortune.  Happened to find one today.  Traded a Smith and Wesson 36 Chiefs Special for it, straight up.  I had $175 in the Smith, so I think I came out OK!

Congratulations!!!!! Very nice in the box.. Those ol' Ruger's are tanks and like a Timex,....take a lickin' and keep on tickin'...

Pistol whipping approved, and not part of the plastic fantastic...

Looks very clean. Like my EAA Witness .40, the damn thing goes bang every time, but like the P90, the rear sight "blade" can make it kinda CC "awkward" without the right holster and familiarity.

What do you want to do with it?

Keep it simple?, change the rear sight?, find the right holster?, carry it?  Or just let it ride, shoot and enjoy it?

I was just curious, as I enjoy my older S&W semi-auto's and my EAA Witness as well, just bouncing possible options around.

Thanks

I may carry it some, but I just want it to shoot mostly.  My last one I owned was the most accurate .45 I ever owned, and that includes some expensive 1911s.  My Colt and Kimber will not out shoot the last one I owned.  I hope this one is just as accurate.  I doubt if I change anything but the grips.  Too slick as is.  Probably put some Hogue rubber grips on it.

The P90 was my first 45acp and I wont sell it. Its accurate and it eats ammo I wouldnt feed my 1911's. The only thing that sucks is the mags are a bit expensive.

I thought you meant one of these

and I was in the middle of adding you to the dreaded "Most Hated" list here when I read the post.

Guys, maybe add the brand name to the post's title to avoid future rage and regret. k? ? ? ?    ;)

Congrats on the Ruger!

That P90 is a beauty!  I shoot a P89 in IDPA and love it.   Good luck with it, I'm sure it'll give you good service!

The P90 is Bill Ruger's version of the 1911. The Hogue grips are about the only upgrade needed.

Grips are no doubt a personal choice.  I tried the Hogues on my P89 and found them to be less comfortable than the factory panels.
I thought about a nice set of wood grips..........
