My first post.  I've belonged to Sigforum for years and recently joined the new XCR forum because (surprise, surprise) I just got an XCR.  I don't get to spend much time on forums, but I wanted to show my support for Michael Bane and Down Range.  I've enjoyed the videos and have learned a lot.  Thanks.

Hello to everyone!  Thank you Michael and all the others behind the scenes for making this happen.  This is a great site.   Secondly, Thank you to all the Veterans out there for your service, for it is greatly appreciated.  My background with guns is very limited.  My father was a solid supporter of the 2nd amendment, but he never shot or held a gun.  Shortly after getting married I purchased my first rifle, which is in the shop getting re-blued.  It is an Enfield No. IV Mk. I *.  I then purchased a S&W 9VE in the spring.  I have around one thousand rounds through that one and not one mishap.  For the price (under $300) I could not be more pleased.  As of now I am on a budget, and as I learn more I can only hope to have some of the nice firearms that some of you have someday!

jzzr39,

Wecome!  And a 'nice firearm' is one that you can rely on to shoot, that you shoot well, and that you like to shoot.

Price and pretty don't mean spit if it doesn't fulfill the above items.

As far as low on cash, get a (used) Ruger Single Six .22 (one of my favorite shooters) and a box of 550 rounds for 10 bucks from Wally World and teach your 'soon to be' to shoot.  Fun and cheap!  ;D
All tipoes and misspelings are copi-righted.  Pleeze do not reuse without ritten persimmons  :D

I've been lurking here for a while and thought it was about time to sign up.

I started carrying concealed in 1967 (OMG, that's a LONG time ago!) and I've been doing it ever since.

I did the US Army thing including VietNam. Medically retired Police Officer.

And now I play with S&W revolvers and carry GLOCKS.

Michael, thanks for doing what you do!

Tony -

Welcome from the land down under, always great to have international opinions flowing around. I hope you won't be too upset by all of the cool guns people on this board show off, and the ease with which we obtain them. We understand that aspect of life is very different down there.

Enjoy the site and let's hear from you.

Hello all. New to this board which I am sure will consume more of my time. I have been working with guns since 1981 at a gunshop/range outside of Chicago. I am an NRA certified instructor in rifle, shotgun, handgun, & personal protection. I also enjoy reloading, hunting, fishing, canoeing, cycling (road), and most things outdoors.
