After watching a lot of WWII movies about D-Day, I was surprised at the real photos of the destruction in St. Lo. Never heard or read anything about that level of destruction. Not surprised at the destruction, mind you, just at my lack of knowledge. You get to learn something every day!

My cousin posted 70 photos this weekend of my mom's side of the family, several were of my Grandpa durring WWII where he was a Navigator on B24s.  Too cool, I copied about 45 of them before I ran out of gas Friday night and will have some time this week to copy the rest. 
Those that don't remember history are bound to repeat it, those that do will be ahead of the curve

But there are others that "get it". :

The Yanks gave my dad a tank to land in Normandy on June 6th 1944. We had none that could do the job properly. Sadly two of my dads crew are still in Normandy, and my fathers fight against the Germans ended very suddenly on 26th June, after which he spent some time fighting for his own life. Anyone who belittles the Yanks needs to shut their mouths.Equally they do need reminding from time to time that we were there too. Dad recovered and lived to be 81 thanks to brilliant medics..and gallons of Penicillin..which was made...in America as we couldn't produce it fast enough. Thank you America. This family has not forgotten and I hope never will.

The liberal indoctrination of "youth" and lack of decent and genuine Pride in teaching WWII history, has let comments like the ones I read just fester the ignorance...

They all seem to forget:

If you can read, thank a teacher.
If you can read in English, thank a soldier.

As I posted before, my than 14 year old son told me he was learning about WWII in H.S.  He said they spent one whole "WEEK".. 5 days.

Pretty much Hitler started it, many died, Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, D-Day, big bomb killed hundreds of thousands of Japanese civilians.
They surrendered, Hitler killed himself... The End.

THAT'S IT!!!!!

Pretty (insert expletive) sad.....Needless to say, we watch, and he still watches (as I do) the old World At War series on the military channel..

Better freakin' history lesson on WWII, than his .gov school.

 If they were serious about teaching WWII history the above quoted "left wing radical" would have known about all the Russians who were using US planes, tanks, trucks, and ammo while eating US supplied food.
