Hoping this passes.

Wyoming is pushing a bill through the state legislature requiring anyone recieving state welfare benefits to pass a drug test, or lose benefits for a year!!!!!! YAY!!!  :D

A good first step. Especially when you consider the meth problem that we have here.

They just tried it in FL. With a majority of Florida citizens supporting the Gov. BUT the Libs got lawyered up and found one to render it Unconstitutional,.....

now pending appeal....

The State Leg. is now trying to get it on the ballot as an Amendment to the Fl. Constitution. Even with a State majority wanting it...

we don't have it...

Good luck in WY. If it passes, maybe it will set a precedent to the weenie whiner Libs down here.

Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."

We were smart enough in the last election to elect a strong conservative for govenor. Mead has had a very good attitude in my opinion. Telling the fed to go pound sand. He has been very active partnering with our state AG to push legislation that makes us more idependant of the feds, and also protect us from them. Thankfully we are among the few states that has a budget surplus. This puts us in a much better postion when tell the .gov to go off themselves.

The arguement is that this legislation will not save any money, and will unfairly target the poorest people. Proponets argue that it is less about cost savings and more about putting the screws to people to get off drugs, and responsible spending of taxpayer dollars.

I need to do some research, but I believe the new bill to extend the payroll tax cuts has an allowance in it for states to require drug and alcohol testing for welfare payments.

I think you are correct, however I don't see that staying in there, as that would be discriminatory.  >:(

I heard they tried to do the same thing for unemployment bennies as well!

Doesn't bother me at all!  In fact, I was going to send the Congress a bag of poop sometime soon anyway!  Will a fecal sample produce similar results?

I absolutely agree with testing. I see the lazy asses out there picking up some booze that we are paying for. Pisses me off to no end.
