I'm selling some stuff this week and will find myself in possession of $1000 that the wife said I have to spend on guns.

Nip that in the bud, guy....don't let her get away with telling you how to spend your own money!!!....Some women!!   ;D ;D ;D

Next thing you know she will be out buying you guns like Red did for her guy.   Once it gets started, no telling where it will end.   ;D ;D

I've had a good 30 year experience with USPSA/IPSC competition... met some very good friends, and gained a little skill...
assemble a Production class rig or shoot Limited minor if you want to use high cap mags

Glock 34 in 9mm
Blade Tech dropped offset holster
good gun belt
(2) Blade Tech douple mag pouches
(5) Glock mags

spend the rest on ammo, or bullets if you reload

have fun

I know, right?  I mentioned paying off some bills with the money but she wouldn't hear it.  She loves the S&W 627.  Maybe...

I forgot to mention Ruger Gunsite Scout rifle or lever gun in the original post.  Both are on the list.

Check that one off your list.

I'm not sure what to get, but have some ideas.  I can get an AK and a home defense shotgun for $1000, right?  how about something from the Performance Center?  Maybe some parts to build another AR?  A Ruger Super Redhawk is within that limit, as is a Chiappa Rhino.  Don't really know what yet.  Probably will end up depositing it in the bank and paying some bills.  That's what my conscience is telling me to do, but it's fun to think about.

What would you guys buy with the money?
