In thinking about my own post and the actions of Mom #1, I came to the realization that she was not really a hero.
I mean, she did not add much, if any, risk to herself by her actions...she was gonna be down there when the house came down anyway.
But what she did do was have what it took to do what she could to protect her children. Doing so did put her at greater risk I guess...she could have used them as shields...
But I guess what I am getting at is that she did what should be "expected" of someone, especially a mother, but of anyone, of everyone.
All of us, in a similar situation, should find in ourselves to protect children and those who need that protection.
So, while it sure seems like something very special, it should not be. Instead it should be the default action, the normal response of any decent human being.
That is appears outstanding is the concern...
