Very powerful... I had never heard about this story before.
I'm afraid that far too few think about "tyranny" when they hear discussions about the Second Amendment. There's such a heavy focus on self-defense and crime - home invasions, car-jackings, flash mobs, etc. - that the original intent of the Second Amendment is often forgotten. The idea that, in America, the People would be compelled to fight tyranny and government oppression seems so remote, so unlikely, just so implausible for too many people.
Lulled into a complacent stupor by a corrupt and myopic MSM, a dysfunctional education system, and a State-sponsored crusade to suppress if not outright destroy anything meant to provide moral, ethical, or spiritual guidance... far too many are simply willing to hold their hands out for their next serving of government pablum compliments of the hardworking taxpayer.
How far will we allow ourselves to be pushed, how many power-grabbing "Executive Orders" will we accept, how many Holder-esque scandals will be perpetrated against the American people before their eyes are opened to the tyranny that is on display before them today?
Do we have in our midst today men and women, like those in Athens Tennessee in 1946, who are willing to draw a line in the sand and say, "No further, no more... you have taken your last from us."
I pray each night for those who have that courage.
