I own a Black Mountain McSpadden Dulcimer and thought a true picker would be a nice Spring treat.

Good weekend to all....

Really cool. Never heard of one before till my Dad bought one in Memphis, Tennessee last year. He retires in a few weeks and wants to learn how to play it.

One of the easiest musical instruments to play. Open tuning keeps the fretboard interaction to a minimum, and a great instrument to just let loose on,..
With a title like Whiskey Before Breakfast" how can you go wrong.... ;)

and us Southerners kinda like it simple,,...... ::)

Can I get an Amen????

Of course I would be remiss in advising that true southerners live in the Southern Hemisphere  ;D

Of course we havent evolved enough to pluck strings and make it sound purdy, we still have to humm loudly, still we can say with full authority squeal like a pig to our tresspassing northern types.

Of course your idea of a "Northern Invader" has sex with goats and speaks Urdu Farsi or Arabic.    ;D

TW- is that you playing in any of those vids? Nice post.
I was lent a "kit" dulcimer 30 years ago and I played it for about a year. I missed it and never had money to get one of my own, but I think some day I'll pick one up. They are an incessantly joyful instrument to play. There's a woman I work with who's husband builds guitars and dulcimers, and maybe I'll see if I can wangle one out of him.
I got the blues as my companion.

No it's not me playing on the vids. But I do enjoy a Southern Adult beverage on ice, from time to time, on the evening patio. Mine is practically identical except for the pic guard. Being left handed on stringed instruments, I didn't even have to flip the string order. I just play it as is...

Bought in Black Mountain NC.

Will be getting a hammered dulcimer when I'm not stockpiling guns, ammo, and food so much..... ::)

Now this is what I expected on this one - This is the best intro version I have come across

If I appear taller than other men it is because I am standing on the shoulders of others.
