The Need For Speed
« on: March 30, 2012, 03:33:48 PM »
Today's range session was mainly for speed.

6 rounds - reload - 6 rounds.

My reloads suck.   Best I did was 4.5 seconds.  And I'm occasionally short stroking the trigger.

BUT my 6 rounds flat-out speed shoot (keeping it on paper - 11x18 at 5 yds) was great.   I've broken 1 second dry-firing but we all know that's very different from live ammo.  So today shooting  my 686 (foreground) with .38spls (not wadcutters but real 158gr .38spls) I did it in....

I have no illusions about breaking JM's record, but I would be happy to get it near 6 seconds.  Or say an el Presidente from holster in 10.

Need more ammo.   Need more ammo.

Our furry little buddy Alf has jumped sit coms.   I will now be known as JJ (walker), as in Jerry Jr.

You've been watching too much of our speed shooter Mr. M from LA ...

Four revolvers and a timer  :o

Great trigger time Alf. Looks like you found the only problem of owning a shot timer. Your always running out of ammo. :'(

Are those all variants of the 625?

Oh No!   Of course not.  I'm no where near that fast.  Not even close.   It was from a high ready with finger on trigger.    And that was one time I did that.

Starting in a low ready may even improve times.   Videos of  JM setting speed records  appear to show he has elbows in as well and the push might actually help.  Lots of practice needed to get that first shot basically on instinct.
