Dang You Michael Bane. Most every time Shooting Gallery showcases a firearm it makes me add to the list of guns I want to own before I checkout. 

Also quality guns make for a great show since they can be gone over so throughly and are just flat interesting.

By showing the people that run the companies such as Detonics are so gun oriented and enthusiastic about their products is a fantastic format.

Enough blathering. In Short- Great Show!! and keep Blasting away!!!

Jerry Ahern is an old friend...we once shared an agent, and like him I was a big fan of the little Detonics CombatMaster. I had ne that was a 100% gun back in the 1980s...heck, I even carried it when I was covering the drug wars down in Miami. Thank heavens I NEVER owned either a white linen suit or a  pastel t-shirt!

The new CombatMasters are great little guns, and I wish Jerry the best.

I handled some prototype alloy frame guns. I really want to talk someone into making a limited run of "retro" 1911s, allow-frame Commander length slide, S&W revolver sights and ramped front, M-S Safari swept-up beavertail, custom retro-ish Aluma-Grips (maybe a flower-power pattern)...maybe Jerry will humor me!

Yeah, you need to stop this.  I can't afford to keep up with the guns....much less the safes to put them in.  You need to consider that some of us poor guys have to buy mass quantities of jewelry to balance out the gun purchases.  So much for saving all of this tax refund..now it's get a Detonics to go with the M82A1 and, oh yeah, a new big new wedding band to replace the old model.  Good thing I'm getting direct deposit so I don't have to wait for the safe.

The Buffalo Bore site is a good one too...thanks....that's some pretty tight ammo.  I feed my 10MM (24 # spring!) with full power from www.doubletapammo.com, don't know if you tried them, but that's where I got the spring...when I called in an order he said it would extend my gun life...through it in for free!

What...no guest appearance on Miami Vice?  Gee, even Ted Nugent made it on the show (with Arielle Dombasle playing with an ice cube...no less).  BTW, main character Crokett had a Detonics Combat Master for a backup.

I am just now able to make this post, but I have to say how much I enjoyed last weeks Shooting Gallery. I first became aquainted with Jerry Ahern in an article by Glenn Barnes in the August '06 Shooting Times. He was dicussing the come back of Detonics, and how he had been a fan after reading about the pair of Combat Masters used by John Rouke in a series of adventure books by Jerry Ahern.

As an avid reader, I went in search of the books, which are "out of print." But in this day of the internet, I have been able to purchase books 1-20 out of 28 in the series. Great cold war era stuff, sicence fiction, adventure!!!
I recommend them highly.
When I sat down to watch the show my children came in to watch with me. "Mommy that guy on TV is the guy who wrote all those books Daddy keeps buying."
My local gun shop has a Combat Master in the case. Not in my budget for a while, but one day...

Detonics USA was a firearm manufacturing company based in Pendergrass, Georgia, USA. Detonics USA began operation in the summer of 2004 as the third incarnation of the original Detonics company based in Seattle, Washington. Detonics was most notably known for its innovative design of compact 1911-style pistols. In May 2007, Detonics USA ceased operations, and their website went offline.

Detonics USA apparently folded and shut its doors. Not only did the website come down, but the company was no longer located at their physical address at the time. Shortly before the company closed shop, CEO Jerry Ahern was ousted by the board.

Detonics and its assets were acquired by Double Nickel LLC. In Novermber 2007, Detonics Manufacturing Corporation announced that they planned to open a new assembly plant in either Millstadt or Belleville, Illinois. The proposed plant would focus on assembly of 1911-style pistols, perhaps moving into assembly of tactical rifles at some point in the future.
