OMG! Cop Killer Bullets! They’re BACK! OMG!

Posted on March 31, 2012 by Robert Farago

Let’s pick up the nypost.com‘s congratulatory story of the cop’s capture of an armed turnstile jumper in the middle. “When the cops checked out the bulge, they found a .40-caliber Smith & Wesson. Toting a concealed weapon is bad enough, cops said. But Sanabria’s alleged turnstile blunder was even worse because the weapon was loaded with notorious hollow-point bullets. The bullets are designed to expand upon impact and do greater damage to an intended target than full-metal-jacket bullets. ‘A hollow-point spreads out and tears up tissue and muscle, and it’s much more likely to stop you,’ a police official said . . .

He added that some law-enforcement agencies use hollow-point bullets because they lose power on first impact and there is less danger that a fragment will continue on its way and hurt someone else.

“Most civilians don’t carry hollow-points because they are more expensive,” said Kenneth Cooper, a certified New York state firearms and use-of-force instructor.

“Most people use bottom-basement ammunition,” he added.

The bottom line, Della Fave said, is “hollow-point bullets are designed to do great damage.”

He's certified all right, just not sure at what! Maybe certifiable might be more like it.  8)

The sad part is that the author isn't "lying" per se, he is so clueless that he actually believes this stupidity.

OMG. What an idiot. What else can I say?

My first thought was they were coming after all the 30-30 rounds. Those nasty things will swiss cheese a vest.

I know Ken Cooper, I would bet that what he said was taken out of context. He wrote the book for NY State Armed Guard certification.

Where are we now??????

Good to know, thanks.

I wondered if maybe that wasn't the case, what with the press' well-known and documented aversion to the truth and accuracy of late.

OTOH, I have known and seen some real tool-type gun guys who just might say something that stupid. Zumbo ring a bell?

At first I thought maybe the crossed over to Jersey, but out of context makes more sense.
"Why are you carrying a pistol?  Expecting trouble?"

"No Maam.  If I was expecting trouble, I'd have a rifle."
