Three youngsters in the Dallas Fort Worth area learned to their sorrow that trying to pull a fast one by stealing from the town’s residents can be a fatal idea. In fact, one of them died in the attempt.
According to KDFW Fox 4 Dallas Fort-Worth’s report on the subject:

Three youngsters rang the doorbell and then ran to the back of the home, prompting the homeowner to call 911.

The trio then allegedly kicked in the back door and entered the home, where the unidentified resident opened fire, killing 14-year-old Luis Avila.[...]

Neighbors said they saw a couple of kids who looked like they were up to no good running from the house. They also heard five gunshots, a pause and then three more shots.

KDFW also has a video report on the incident.

No charges have been filed, though the case will reportedly be reviewed by a grand jury, according to the AP.

Video report at link....

"Kids, (used loosely) need to realize" you just can't kick in doors of armed homeowners....

Let alone in Texas.... Sad....used to be kids stole just lawn mowers, tools, and stuff out of an open garage,.....now they are kicking in doors???......Dangerous and fatal path to be on.....

Although given the number of shots "reported" there may be more to the story...

+1. Between the MSM and the ol' "high capacity clip" thingy,....we have a long row to hoe....Where are the Hispanic outcries for racism and injustice?   That's right.......my bad,.....there aren't any...

Even the lead Detective stated, at some point the door was kicked in, as the homeowner was on the phone with 911, and they entered the home......Bad idea,...in this case....

The Hispanic gangs (M13) for example.. are just a group of disenfranchised youths.....from the family nurturing surroundings of the barrio.

A truly great reply.

A neighbor shot and killed a 16 year old kid 6 years ago that was being pursued by local police officers.  Crime has been relegated to car prowls since.

+1 on the victim being the home owner.

I actually thought it was the 14 year old that was the "homeowner." I figured it was a well written story about a youngster defending his home and family.  ??? I guess not...

It's one of those tough 'don't do that life-lessons' that you only get to learn once.
"I expect perdition, I always have. I keep this building at my back, and several guns handy, in case perdition arrives in a form that's susceptible to bullets. I expect it will come in the disease form, though. I'm susceptible to diseases, and you can't shoot a damned disease." ~ Judge Roy Bean, Streets of Laredo

For the Patriots of this country, the Constitution is second only to the Bible for most. For those who love this country, but do not share my personal beliefs, it is their Bible. To them nothing comes before the Constitution of these United States of America. For this we are all labeled potential terrorists. ~ Dean Garrison

"When it comes to the enemy, just because they ain't pullin' a trigger, doesn't mean they ain't totin' ammo for those that are."~PegLeg

Not really, those things have a tendency to progress, first breaking into unoccupied buildings, then occupied buildings.
The home owner killed this thief before he progressed to the "thrill killing" stage.
He may have saved the lives of an entire family.
