Lost A Great Friend & Musician Today
« on: April 12, 2012, 07:40:01 PM »
I was told this evening that my friend George Mesterhazy died today. He went to take an afternoon nap and never got up.

George was a wonderful, funny man and was the most gifted and accomplished musician I have ever met. He played on some of my cds and always knew just what to do to "make it right".

George produced a song for NSync. He toured the world for years with Shirley Horn, the jazz singer. He had regular gigs all over the country in the winter and each summer he performed every night in his wife's restaurant on his $80K Steinway.

George was the nicest, funniest man I've every known and to him music was like conversation. There were no notes, no math, no rules...it just flowed.
He was just 60, and he will be greatly missed.
I got the blues as my companion.

Jay, I feel for your loss.  Darrin (Deepwater) and I were talking about  and of course listening to  your music tonight and marveling at the talent you have

Carry on and KNOW good music never dies. I feel very special to be called your friend.

This is turning into a rough week for folks I know.

Jay, my sincerest condolences on the loss of your friend, colleague and catalyst.

Like Doc said when asked why he was riding with Wyatt, He is my friend. . . . . I don't (have lots of them). Cherish your time together, and use his example to be "George" for someone else.

Sorry to hear of the loss, Jay.

Peace, prayers, and comfort be with his family and good friends like you.

"I expect perdition, I always have. I keep this building at my back, and several guns handy, in case perdition arrives in a form that's susceptible to bullets. I expect it will come in the disease form, though. I'm susceptible to diseases, and you can't shoot a damned disease." ~ Judge Roy Bean, Streets of Laredo

That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."
