C'mon boys!

Who says one of our own can buy a $50,000.00 shotgun?

You can find them for $25K or $200K....just sayin'...

;)I'm not into it that deeply, It MAY be worth 15 - 17K one day after spending 4K or so with the Merrington on it.....should he ever decide to quit malingering in hospital  >:(

It needs to have the ribs relayed and some minor 'tweaking' - and it's borderline 'out of proof' ....but overall in pretty decent shape for an 1888 gun.  Shoots fine as is for now.....I'm enjoying it !

It has 2 1/2" chambers, so I'm restricting it to Winchester Feaherlights, Light Trap would probably be OK too. The barrel wall thicknesses are about .025" at 9" from breech face. Steel (not damascus) barrels.

Bic,DO NOT fire ANY 2&3/4 inch shells in that gun ,doing so could cause an over pressure that will destroy a fine shotgun and at the very least make for some very painful injuries. You can get the proper shell for it from Ballistic Products as well as other vendors.

The arguements of that 2 3/4"  in 2 1/2" chambers have been argued long and hard over many years, and as long as we understand that all 2 3/4" cartridges are not the same - and understanding those differences - no harm will occur. I recommend doing ones own research and talking to those who work on double barreled English guns and making ones own appropriate decision.

Bic, the length of the shotgun shells are measured open not loaded, which means that there is a 1/4 inch of the shell mouth in the forcing cone area, it is the restriction there that causes the high pressure,I will stick to my original post in that It is not a good idea to shoot ammo that the gun is not chambered for, bad things could happen. I would hate to hear that you damaged a fine gun or worse injured yourself shooting improper ammo.

I appreciate your concern Majer, thanks.

Here's a link to a Looooong thread on the subject

http://www.doublegunshop.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=35050&page=1

 - basically it all depends on pressure, and AA Featherlights & Lite Trap will be fine in my gun.

Edit: Here's another if you can stand it, gives me a headache ::)

Sweet looking double.
You can always get some brass shells and load up some BP loads.
They feel, sound and look good going off.
