I don't disagree that AL should move to "shall issue."  However, I have never heard of anyone, outside your MLK example, having an issue.  In fact, every experience I've had and heard of is easier than almost any other state that requires a permit discussed in the "wait time for ccw" thread.

Next County over you have to wait 6 months if you've moved there less than 6 months prior to application. You have to register your carry gun/any gun you carry there for a permit. The law was written to allow Sheriff to use as discriminatory against anybody he sees fit. It can be abused by design.

Yeah, I knoiw it varies by county and has the potential to be abused.  I also agree that it would be nice to decrease that potential.  I was just curious if you knew of any circumstances where it was/is being abused.  In my county, you have to provide a serial number for a pistol the first time you apply, but you aren't locked to that gun and don't have provide one for a renewal.

I was pretty much in and out for mine to.  My county has even mailed me a copy of my permit to a PO Box out of state after I lost my wallet with my permit in it.  No cost, no questions, no problems.

The potential is there though.

His father had bypass surgery several months ago.  He's been looking after him and another member of his family somewhere outside of Naples, FL for some time.  I spoke to him a month ago, he's fine just off the grid!

I never gave it a thought about the democrats having banned guns to Nergo population, but she is surely right, I remember of having
read it myself, and I believe she is right that as many black Americans should take up arms and join the NRA, USCCA, and other gun
organizations as possible, because it is honestly true.  Disarm the black American so they are easily killed.  This is where our nation is
headed today with and gun ban, and the U.N.'s small arms treaty as well as the U.N. agenda 21.  This is something I must keep in mind when I write my state and federal representatives.  I would strongly suggest every member here do the same thing. We have to write our reps.  We have lost so many freedoms that it is pathetic.

Exactly.  The party that makes it so easy to stay "enslaved" to to Welfare.

The Democratic Party draws much of it's base from the poor...and it is in their best interest to keep them poor and maintain that base.

The Republican Party draws much of it's base from the more wealthy and it is in their interest to keep them wealthy.  They might not do anything to help someone become wealthy, but they sure won't discourage it.
