Got the Ghost Ring sights for my Mossy 500.   I wish they had been more specific in the description.  You see:  GUNSMITHING REQUIRED.  It's been like that every step of the way with the 500.  Took an act of congress and a hole saw to put on a tactical forend.  Now the Mossberg sights need to be silver soldered on the barrel.  Real bummer.  I've waited 2 years to get these (when I had the money they were out of stock and visa versa).  At least I'm thankful the receiver was drilled and tapped.   The direction start out with "using a center punch"       It's the front sight for which there's no other way but to solder on the mount.  I may temp this myself.  I mean you can't butcher the lowest end pump too bad.

Safariland 586 holster.  This series if for N frame S&W revolvers.   I like the blending of polymer to give it shape and suede to protect the gun.  Fit nice.  Comes with both belt attachment and a paddle.   The one thing it could have come with is instructions on how to change them out.   They spend the entire instruction sheet tell you how to adjust the tension.   Not one word one converting it between paddle and belt.  I know it's not rocket science but some people might have trouble figuring out the spacers and the longer screws.  It just would have been nice.   A definite plus plus though for a OWB holster.

Got the S&W 625JM back from the smith.  For those who don't remember it comes rather poorly finished from the factory.  The extractor is beveled but the actual chambers are not.  Here's a before and after picture.  Notice the extractor doesn't match up to the chambers in the left picture, but how much nicer it looks in the right.  Of course, looking nice isn't the point.  The point is being able to drop in a full moon clip of ammo without fumbling.   100 rounds today.  Works great.



Last but not least, my quest for the Bill Drill (6rd - reload 6rd).  My goal is under 5 seconds.  I've gotten their (barely) dry firing, but with live ammo I still live in the 7 second time frame.  Here's what makes dry firing great.  The IPSC Shot Timer on my droid.

The sensitivity level is easily settable (unlike some real shot timers) and it can pick up the dry firing.  Problem is it also picks up the grunts and when the cylinder closes.   When you have a good run, you can email the times to yourself.   Here's one of my better runs, when I didn't grunt and I had the sensitivity adjust just right.

Did you mean 568 on the Safariland holster?  I was looking to see if it was what I had, but can not find a 586.  The description of 568 sounds like what you are talking about.

I got lucky with my 635JM.  I was working and stopped in at my gunsmith with a couple of projects - Best part of the old job was that our crematory was 12 miles from the smithy    I would work for 45 minutes and then have 90 minutes of downtime, another ten minutes of work followed by 90 - 120 minutes of downtime.  Gunsmith loved it too, because it was like dollar signs to him.  He spent 15 minutes to chamfer my cylinder and didn't charge me ... for that.  He wants it back to deepen the chamfers a little more, but it works so well I haven't made the trip.  I have a couple other projects for him, so may be heading over soon.
